Netflix/Amazon Prime series to binge watch with 9 and 10 yo

.... which I can bear to watch too!

Really struggling with finding something that's not too babyish for the 11 yo and not too adult or scary for the 9 yo. We mostly sit down to watch something, argue about it, then find there's no time left to actually watch anything!

Series we've all enjoyed:
Lemony Snickett
Designated Survivor
Outnumbered
Brain Games (might not have been called that) documentary series
Modern Family (not Netflix though)

Series that one likes but the other hates 🙄 Or are unsuitable for the younger one:
Big Bang Theory
Father Ted
Blackadder
Anything involving natural world, animals etc
Addams Family

Often see Onjy Fools and Horses recommended on MN but we all loathe that!

Mine are enjoying Merlin and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Are they boys or girls? My girls loved H20 and Mako Mermaids. Also House of Anubis.

TowerRingInferno · 04/08/2017 07:12

Sorry, should have said - boys. I know it perhaps shouldn't make a difference but in their case it definitely does! Anything 'for girls' would not go down well.

Life in pieces is hilarious.... a bit "modern family"

SavoyCabbage · 04/08/2017 07:15

We've just watched Anne with an E.

Everyone hates Chris is good.

Okite · 04/08/2017 07:19

Mine are watching Annedroids and Gortimer Gibbons at the moment. I have the same ages as you plus a younger one as well, it's so hard to find something that they all like!

TowerRingInferno · 04/08/2017 10:40

Some great ideas, thank you. Will try some out this weekend.

I've watched Anne with an E and absolutely adored it (and then read all the books!) but the boys weren't too keen.

Not on Netflix but DS and I enjoy watching The Goldbergs together.

yumyumpoppycat · 05/08/2017 16:06

My kids (esp the girls but just heard 11yo ds chortling) really like full house from the 80s/90s, I don't really watch it - seems very American cheesy. They thought anne with an e was scary because of the flashbacks. We all like the wonder years but that isn't on now tv or netflix so would be one to record, we have the dvds of that. The older progs are tricky as they are usually suitable but include the odd topic that is less suitable.

GothicOak · 05/08/2017 18:36

When I was pregnant with my first baby, all I ever watch is some Korean love drama.

Dirtylookineejit · 05/08/2017 19:01

My ds liked the nowhere boys. It had two seasons set in Australia. Jumping to different "worlds", a demon (not scary but not totally ridiculous) chasing them and magic.

Strummerville · 05/08/2017 21:20

DD (12) and DS (9) were both riveted by Avatar: The Last Airbender recently, and its sequel-of-sorts, The Legend of Korra. On Amazon.

whatnextfred · 05/08/2017 21:23

Once upon a time is amazing!!

bertdynamite · 06/08/2017 19:19

I was just about to suggest Once Upon a Time - it was/is enjoyed by my ds and dd. And there are loads of episodes, it could keep you going for a while.

strongandlong · 06/08/2017 19:27

Friday night dinner is v popular with my 11yo. Slightly unsuitable (swearing, references to sex) but no more so than outnumbered, which we all also love.

Little lunch is my favourite kids prog on Netflix and both my kids like it too.

Ab fab
The young ones
Fresh Prince

StormyLovesOdd · 06/08/2017 19:31

Some of these sound good, I have a 9 year old and have the same problem.

How about Black Adder?

EllaHen · 06/08/2017 19:36
