I know I'm a bit late to the party on this one, but I've been glued to this series on iplayer all evening.

Because of the way the show had been marketed, I wasn't expecting to like it, or her as a character. I'm not sure why the guardian etc have been so focused on what a terrible degenerate she is. - the show I felt it had most in common with is probably Miranda. It's like Miranda crossed with Peepshow, only much more emotionally engaging. And really fucking upsetting at times.

And of course, Olivia Colman is just sublime. I'd really begun to hate her character by the 3rd or 4th episode. It wasn't until I'd switched off that it occurred to me she had been acting at all. So incredibly subtle.

And the family dynamic is just spot on, generally. As are the flashback scenes with Boo.

Anyone else watching?

Saw it ages ago, really heart breaking, funny, heart breaking, outrageous and heart breaking.

Yes I also binge watched it recently and surprised myself by how much I enjoyed it. I found the last episode really affecting.

I loved it, will watch the second series definitely. Thought it was sad how her and her sister couldn't open up to each other!

snoopy I agree. They need each other so much, but there's just this disconnect. And the same with the relationship with her dad. It was just so sad and stunted. He seems to love his daughters but I'm not sure he likes them very much. Very stately homes. Sad

Absolutely loved this series - so cleverly done and the ending floored me.

The80sweregreat · 31/07/2017 20:33

The guardian love Phoebe!
Tis good. Olivia Coleman's character is just awful.

Lottapianos · 01/08/2017 08:16

Olivia Colman is glorious, isn't she? She's so good at being nasty and underhand with a big fake smile on her face

I adored Fleabag. Very funny, very sad and an interesting take on grief

The80sweregreat · 01/08/2017 20:36

Poor Boo. A lovely friend and all round good egg.
Her and the bank manager were the good guys.
I loved this show.

15MinutesWithYou · 01/08/2017 20:55

One of the best things I've ever watched. Absolutely see the peep show similarities. A friend of mine does a podcast on Peep Show and she introduced her cohost to fleabag and he said he couldn't believe the similarities or that it hasn't been widely discussed.

The80sweregreat · 01/08/2017 21:03

That art show. So beautifully done.

Lottapianos · 02/08/2017 08:57

Yes 80s, the art show was perfect. As was the sex shop scene Grin

The80sweregreat · 02/08/2017 09:36

I loved that picture of her step mum that greeted them on the way in to her show. The artful way she is ' to the side ' of the frame, the look on her face. Phoebe is one to watch - i hope she makes another comedy or Fleabag 2!

Lottapianos · 02/08/2017 12:31

I believe Fleabag 2 is on its way! I was dying for her to be Doctor Who, I think she would have been fabulous

My favourite step mother line is when Fleabag and her sister come to their dad's house for the yearly excruciating memorial get together for their mother. Sad face, pats on arm..... 'oh girls, sad day, such a sad day.......' Beaming smile - 'I'll get the champagne'

Grin Performed beautifully by Olivia Colman

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 02/08/2017 22:01

Oh it stayed with me for days and days
So clever and tragic
And Olivia C - a stunning turn

Slut ! Slut ! Grin

Elendon · 03/08/2017 07:14

I watched it all again yesterday and was once again blown away with how good it is.

Olivia C is fantastic in that role. Every character is well drawn out. Hilarious and tragic. Loved the sexhibition!

Havalina · 03/08/2017 10:16

Watched it all again too and was too blown away. It is so nuanced and intricate, and clever. I think she obviously has a bright future and hope she can produce TV of this quality again. One of the best things I have seen.
