Buffy from the beginning has just started being shown on TV... my DD is clearly too Young.. so how long do I have to keep them? 😂

OP posts:
Soubriquet · 20/07/2017 18:57

I'm sure the earlier seasons are a 12, rising up to a 15 as it gets towards the end

I've got them on DVD so I'll double check next time I get up

Soubriquet · 20/07/2017 18:59

Ah I stand corrected. They are all 15 Grin

So I would say a mature 13 year old should be ok

ShesABloodyLoon · 20/07/2017 19:01

It was always on at 6pm which I never really understood. It felt like a post watershed kinda thing sometimes, particularly The Gentlemen which even now at 35 make me hide behind a cushion.
That being said, I'll let all my kids watch it, youngest being 5 but he's not interested.

TheQueenSnortsAvocados · 20/07/2017 19:02

I've watched some with my 7 year old, but I know it far too well, and pick and choose what I think is suitable.

Soubriquet · 20/07/2017 19:04

Jeez the gentlemen is fucking creepy

^Can't even shout.
Can't even cry.
The Gentlemen are coming by.
Looking in windows,
knocking on doors...
They need to take seven
and they might take yours...
Can't call to mom.
Can't say a word.
You're gonna die screaming
but you won't be heard^

I think that one and the one with the monster who sucks kids lives out whilst in hospital are two of the most disturbing episodes

Addley · 20/07/2017 19:04

I think they cut it a bit so it could go on at 6pm? Cause obviously a show set in a high school with magical creatures must be for kids, right? Hmm

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 20/07/2017 19:04

My DD is 7... but she's quite grown up and loves goosebumps... still too young right? Grin

Soubriquet · 20/07/2017 19:07

Nah I would let a 7 year old watch them. Well not every episode. Again I know them far to well so would pick and choose but if you think your Dd is mature enough, go for it

Elmo230885 · 20/07/2017 19:08

On SyFy they are reasonably edited throughout the day and I think some of the scarier episodes are omitted from the run. I'd say they are fine to watch together.

Soubriquet · 20/07/2017 19:09

Ugh don't even mention syfy on here Angry

I'm furious they are coming out with a series I LOVE reading but I can't sodding watch it. No subtitles.

Midnight by charlaine Harris. Very good book

I love Buffy but as previous posters have said at 7 I would choose which ones she watches

weebarra · 20/07/2017 19:13

Sorry you won't be able to watch them Soubriquet. Great books so I'll look forward to seeing if all the characters look like they should!

EllaHen · 20/07/2017 19:14

I tried with dd who is 11. She loved it but we got to an episode with clowns and she had nightmares so stopped. She said she'd be fine if we watched them on a Saturday morning rather than in the evening but I felt like a bad parent as it was so we haven't returned (yet).

Sticking to the Star Trek franchises - DS9, Voyager and TNG so I'm getting to re-live my youth that way.

Soubriquet · 20/07/2017 19:26

Sorry you won't be able to watch them Soubriquet. Great books so I'll look forward to seeing if all the characters look like they should

Woo hoo another midnight fan!!

From the adverts I'm going with no on the character front

weebarra · 20/07/2017 19:30

I love all Charlaine Harris' stuff. Currently reading Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson books which are awful but strangely addictive.
I don't think I'd let my 9 year old watch buddy, though I do let him watch Dr Who.

Namelesswonder · 20/07/2017 19:40

Ooooh, Buffy from the beginning- which side are they on and when? Thanks

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 20/07/2017 21:45

Sci fi

purpleme12 · 20/07/2017 21:56

I think 12 years old at the earliest

Katescurios · 20/07/2017 21:59

I was in secondary school so 13/14 when they started and watched every week.

The gentlemen is in my top 5 favourite episodes, along with Once more with feeling.

WinchestersInATardis · 20/07/2017 21:59

I've also got a 7 year old who loves it but I have very carefully selected which episodes he gets to see.

Adelie0404 · 20/07/2017 22:06

I have the boxset and am watching with 13 year old which seems appropriate. We are well into it (series 6)

Bumdishcloths · 20/07/2017 22:09

We've been rewatching Buffy with first child in utero - too soon? Grin

Can't wait to indoctrinate them haha

ShesABloodyLoon · 21/07/2017 00:59

@Katescurios Once More With feeling should be broadcast weekly! Best. Episode. Ever.

It's so bad it's fabulous.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 24/07/2017 02:15

My DD is 7... but she's quite grown up and loves goosebumps... still too young right?

Double her age and then she'll be good to watch them.
