Anyone watching? I reckon it'll be an acquired taste but I'm enjoying it.

Main character a therapist called Jean. She's in her 40's, married, a bit bored and, I dunno, looking for kicks. She starts interacting with people from the lives of her clients.

I watched the whole thing over a couple of days whilst DP away.

I've read a lot of reviews which suggest it was terrible, but I actually thought Watts' acting was immense. The tiniest movements in her face to convey her feelings, I thought it was pretty impressive.

It reminded me of You Me Her. Bored professional housewife, here a therapist, there an architect, realises she wants some excitement in her life, and so gets a bit reckless and meets another younger 27 year old female and gets a bit carried away with it...

Spoiler...

I HAAAAAAAATED the ending though. Did not understand it. Did you??

iwantavuvezela · 04/07/2017 13:53

I watched it as well ....... enjoyed it (also read the reviews which were not great) but like ImmortalityMyDarlings, I also hated the ending - if we can speak about it on here (spoiler) would be happy to give my view. I was waiting for the next episode, couldn't believe it was the end!

PossibiliTea · 04/07/2017 13:55

I couldn't get into it at all, only watched the first one though, so you have inspired me to crack on. Hated you me her though so I'm not sure how I will get on!

ImmortalityMyDarlings · 04/07/2017 13:57

-spoiler alert-
I don't know why she just smiled at her? Surely she just found out that it was all a lie?! Or was she just randomly turned on by that mystery too?

ImmortalityMyDarlings · 04/07/2017 13:58

I disliked You Me Her and Gypsy in the same way I disliked Transparent. Such self-indulgent, selfish and affluent women who have no idea how lucky they are.

ImmortalityMyDarlings · 04/07/2017 13:59

And then men. BLUURGH. I thought the hubby in Gypsy was quite nice though. Good on him for you know, doing the right thing and all that..Hmm.

I've watched 2 episodes. Will get back on it tonight. Dh made me watch some Vietnam film with Christian Bale last night. Oh dear God it was brutal.

By the way, I absolutely loved Transparent Immortality. I know what you mean about every single character being self absorbed. The main character's crushing sense of entitlement was staggering. In Transparent, that is.

Ah I take it back, I didn't hate Transparent, indeed I watched every season. It's very good tv. It was uncomfortable, wasn't it, like a mirror. Humans are just so very selfish.

Made you think if you weren't a very disciplined therapist, would you go that far, like Jean?

Everyone, keep at it, then we can talk :)

TerfwithaNerf · 04/07/2017 16:46

I started a thread about it this morning.

Watched it all and thought it was laughably bad. Terrible lazy writing, zero believability, zero chemistry between the two female leads. Have always thought Naomi Watts was overrated and this has done nothing to change my mind.

rockshandy · 04/07/2017 17:02

I have watched a few episodes but am finding it quite slow, and its not really drawing me back.

You Me Her was a strange one. I have watched all of it but towards the end was finding myself cringing more and more.

ImmortalityMyDarlings · 04/07/2017 18:41

The soundtrack is v good though. Got right back into Fleetwood Mac and Cigarettes After Sex
