It's awful.

But the skills and organisation of the NHS workers is truly awe inspiring.

I think we'll get similar programs for the London Bridge attack and Grenfell, what with Hospital and 24hrs in A&E.

It's quality TV but so upsetting to watch.

It was incredible TV. And obviously unexpected when they started filming a staff meeting about clinical/hospital vacancies and segued into a major incident!

I am incredibly proud of our NHS. To manage a situation like that so well, and so professionally, and to have such good clinical outcomes is just amazing. To treat those poor French lads as they needed, nobody had to stop and ask for insurance details or a credit card; they just got on with saving them.

Gripping documentary.

It was a gripping watch.

I'm afraid I couldn't help but weep a bit for those French boys. I've two teenage boys and I just can't imagine how scared they felt and how their parents felt when they got the news. They were lovely boys though. I hope they felt well cared for and they'll come back again.

I think everyone should watch this programme, it's brilliant. It shows exactly what happens behind the scenes and the amount of pressure we are all under, all the time.

Love this programme! So good to have a medical documentary which isn't just about the patients, but also behind the scenes with the staff etc.

This programme is a real eye opener, particularly seeing the hassle surgeons go through making sure their parents get beds. Last night when someone was going round the hospital trying to move patients out, he asked a surgeon about a patient who'd he'd just operated on. The man answered 'what's the right answer to get my patient a bed?' That made me smile. They're all have to play a game.

I'm watching at the moment. This is my emergency services family even though I'm not in London and I'm so proud of them all.

I just watched this. I am a nurse, I have read my hospital's major incident plan and hope I never have to see it put into action, but it was fascinating in an awful way to see the reality of the theoretical plan. It was chilling at the end when the manager said that she hoped she wouldn't have to go through a day like that again but knew it was inevitable, because from the perspective of 3 months in the future we know it wasn't long before the hospital faced another similar incident. I wonder if Channel 4 will show it from Kings' perspective as part of 24 Hours in A&E.

I watched this last night and also had a little cry about the French boys, esp when he was on the phone with his dad asking if he was coming. They were very brave though and seemed very resilient, I really hope they have bounced back in France without too much psychological trauma. I hope Harrods sent them some replacement gifts. They were well looked after, it's amazing to see what trauma centres do now.

Happypotamus:** 24hrs left Kings a few yrs back & has been at St George's - am sure the incidents impacted there too.

It was complete chance that the crew were there at the time, unsure there'll be other such footage & can imagine this being used for teaching around major incident planning as showed how everything comes together.

Has anyone else watched the second episode in the series? It focused on cancer care and the related balance between cost and effectiveness.

I am amazed at the strength and resolve people can have to fight for more time.

Watching it now. I agree that the NHS should not pay for these enormously expensive cancer drugs that have not been proven to be effective. If NICE doesn't approve it then that's a good enough reason not to give it.

Last nights program was really sad I thought.
The young woman with ovarian cancer was heartbreaking.

The poor bloke with the brain tumour was in complete denial that the treatment was very experimental. I don't think he was the realist he was claiming to be.

That was a brilliant episode but also very sad.

The lady that was paying £300 per month for health insurance didn't seem to get much for her money. It was the same Dr as she would have had on the NHS and he said he would have operated on her as quickly under the NHS. It was the same hospital, same staff etc all she seemed to get was a private room which obviously is nicer than being on a ward but at the same time it wasn't exactly like a hotel room or anything. I have been in similar private rooms at hospital just for being infectious. Is private health insurance normally so much per month?

I thought it was £800 per month. I was gobsmacked. Her dh set it up. but she has now cancelled it.
