God is she only 33 I thought late 40s. I'm 33. Shocking

They do look way older than they are.

The constant need for sugar is mind boggling. She's doing well, it would be fab if he could get on board too. Life changing for them both.

I'm finding this fascinating and really sad - I don't think their marriage will last, he is very self centred (however socially anxious he is, he is totally ignoring her cries for help and burying his head in the sand).

She seems lovely and I hope she flourishes once the weight is more manageable.

I'll continue to lose weight the hard way.

She's put a lot of effort in to getting her weight down so she cold get the operation.

However, unfortunately, I'm sceptical of her attitude.

I have to eat the right things not the nice things she's just said. Oh dear.

Like a lot of dieters she wants it both ways - slim but still able to eat what she likes. In search of the holy grail of, 'I can eat what I like and never put on weight.' Really ?

Unfortunately, she seems to thinks it's all a bit of a joke. The weight loss the surgery etc.

Ah found it. It is a series of Channel 4 programmes called "Shut Ins" 9-10. Can't watch on catch up yet but will do later, hopefully.

I've only seen some of it, but the addiction to food is very real. I really do think there should be more support for those addicted to food, just as there is for addiction to drugs and alcohol.

I thought she was lovely but very childish. Having toddler strops. Felt sorry for her being married to a bloke that didn't seem to care much. And was very self centred. Hope she does well.

The comment about birthday cake came across like she wasn't taking it seriously. Though she did explain why she said it.

I'm watching it now on catch-up and at the beginning she says she is a sugar addict and dreams of being able to work and have a child.

I'm a sugar addict too and battled with obesity for four decades, trying to follow a low fat 'balanced diet' that invariably included some sugar in the form of low fat/calorie alternatives. Failed every single time .

Last March I went cold turkey and eliminated ALL SUGAR and all carbs in general except vegetables. I replaced the calories from sugar/carbs/starches with fat , usually known as LCHF (low carb healthy fat) or keto or banting way of eating; it's a lifestyle.

Today I am a normal weight (BMI currently 24.8) and a normal fat %, from 66% to 28%. All from eliminating sugar from my diet. I'm never returning to sugar, ever. Sugar is my addiction, I cannot cope with it any more than Sharon can.

Would she consider this? Toddler, yes she does seem childlike in her behaviour. I don't know if she would consider eliminating sugar, it might be a step too far. I certainly procrastinated for a few months before trying this way of eating for initially one month. The benefits were tremendous though and I wish it was offered as an alternative to the dire low fat high carb advice we are currently given. Doesn't work for sugar addicts, sadly. Everything in moderation does not work for us!

Everything in moderation doesn't work for me either. I had to cut all sugar from my diet too, I switched to keto.

Giving up sugar freed me from the ups and downs of hunger, cravings, mood swings. I lost a lot of weight too and have kept it off.

Poor woman needs to go to rehab.

MyCats I'm a pretty 'normal' weight but had a month or so of cutting out all crap - refined sugar products, crisps, etc. - as I had to get into a specific dress for a special occasion and although I lost weight (needed to lose a few lbs) I was as miserable as sin and went back to my regular diet (and maintained the loss).

I wouldn't be putting up with her husbands behaviour. He should be supporting her. He never actually said he loves her, when she said she doubted it.

justdance it's great that you can tolerate the sugary stuff, some people can. I wish I could but I would suspect that anyone overweight does not tolerate sugar, excess of which causes fat to accumulated on body, particularly round middle.

Justdance there is literally a massive difference between losing a few lbs and losing 7 stone ... which is what I've done. That 7 stone excess was on me because my body is utterly intolerance of carbs not because I was a binge eater or secret snacker. I eat less than my husband who is a normal weight, I always have.

Great for you that can eat them with no bad effects. For those of us obese (well I used to be) that's simply not the case.

Congratulations on losing 7 stone Auchan that's amazing! To live completely sugar free in a society dominated by it must be so hard.
