I am a huge fan! DP took me there last year for my birthday and i saw the church and had tea in the lovely tea rooms.
I love the relationship between Geordie and Sidney and Leonard is so funny!

Love it to bits. I find the storylines are often a shade darker than the Marple-esque setting would suggest. I just hoot at seeing Robson Green play the old git to James Norton's raging hottie.

If it gets to the second ad break and he's still fully clothed I'll be firing off strong missives.

ScaryMonstersandSuperCreeps · 23/04/2017 20:44

Robson Green has def improved with age! Grin

Got it on record, watching tomorrow, looking forward to it as I love James N. Pity it clashes with Line of Duty!

ChoccyJules · 23/04/2017 22:28

I found it very tough watching tonight, the storyline really upset me.
I live nearby so I like the 'set' spotting.

DanyellasDonkey · 23/04/2017 22:29

I really like it.

ScaryMonsters - that's just the sort of thing I would do. I'm forever trailing family members around places that have some sort of "significance" for me and they're like Hmm.

James Norton is very attractive but I don't get the Robson Green love-in. Never fancied him when he was younger and still don't.

ProfYaffle · 24/04/2017 00:04

'lovely' tea rooms! Surely not? Dh and I went last year (we're kind of local) and thought they were awful!

Sydney needs to quit the priesthood, become an official detective and all their problems are solved.

Ciaovenora · 24/04/2017 01:28

Outta curiosity as I'm not a fan of this particular show.

For those of you that are fans of James Norton. Are you guys planning on watching Mc Mafia staring James Norton when its scheduled for release on the BBC some time this year.

ChoccyJules · 24/04/2017 08:51

Tea rooms have recently changed hands and I think they were in the same family for decades before that. Tripadvisor comments have led to the new owners explaining why they've had to be a bit more commercially-minded. Maybe some of the charm has gone? I haven't been for a few years so can't compare.

WateryTart · 24/04/2017 08:56

Robson Green? I would. I've harboured a crush ever since he was in Casualty many, many years ago.

Willow2017 · 24/04/2017 09:30

Robson Green hell yeah ever since 'Soldier Soldier' Grin

Wow 'Sidney' can move cant he? Loved that dancing. Just hope he isnt going to wimp out and 'do the right thing' which is totally the wrong thing where that toff bully is concerned.

But Geordie??? What are you thinking man, get a grip! So mad at him.
(I know I know)

bottomhangingout · 24/04/2017 21:21

I love Leonard. And Sidney of course.

But Geordie.... why is he being such a bastard.

(Just catching up - had to watch Lod)

MorrisZapp · 24/04/2017 22:42

Ooh I thought the office snog was sexy, sorry!

Story was a bit over egged but worth it to see Sidney in full athletic mode. Looking for something a bit more gentle next week, preferably not featuring dead crows.

SapphireStrange · 25/04/2017 13:48

Haven't watched it yet but am looking forward to it. I agree with this I find the storylines are often a shade darker than the Marple-esque setting would suggest. They deal with some pretty full-on subjects, but with a light touch. I think they portray the relationships (Sidney and Amanda, the gay curate and his brief relationship etc) very well and believably.

James N is very pretty, isn't he? Hadn't heard about McMafia, so thanks for the tip-off!

happypoobum · 25/04/2017 17:56

I just can't see the chemistry between the female police officer and Robson. I don't know what she would see in him. He looks fairly crusty to me.

James Norton on the other hand - oh yes!!!

Clawdy · 25/04/2017 21:58

Such a sad story. One bit I didn't get - why was the young girl's doll in the old woman's coffin? It was taken from the girl and handed to her father when she entered the home.

MrsSlocombesPussy · 25/04/2017 23:45

During one of the father's phone calls to Sidney, he mentioned something about leaving the nurse a momentous. I assumed he had put the doll into the coffin

MrsSlocombesPussy · 25/04/2017 23:45

A momento

Clawdy · 26/04/2017 07:24

Ah, right. Wonder how he got it into the coffin, though.

diddl · 30/04/2017 15:19

I think that it's completely ruined by the Sidney/Amanda crap.

Why oh why?

There are interesting characters & mysteries-why must there be a "romance" as well?

Clawdy · 30/04/2017 15:25

In the books on which the series is based, Sidney and Amanda are just good mates, with lots of jokes and banter between them.He actually marries the German woman who featured in the first series, and they are very happy with a baby, and Amanda as a cheerful godmother!!

SapphireStrange · 30/04/2017 15:27

I love the Sidney and Amanda 'crap' Grin. I think she's a great actor and they have such good chemistry.

I could do without Geordie and the typing floozy though. I don't remember them having a 'thing' in the last series. Confused Does his wife know/suspect? Did we already know he and his wife weren't getting on?

ApplebyFair · 30/04/2017 21:09

Looks like Leonard is going to have a "marriage of convenience"

ChoccyJules · 30/04/2017 23:47

Poor old Leonard.
I was far too worried that Dickens might die...
They are balancing the social mores of the time well with the human element, both with Sidney/Amanda and with Leonard.
She should have married Sidney when she had the chance, but I suppose she was socially conditioned to find the rich husband.
