Jump aboard for a fab road trip with Emma & Zara. I'd much rather go on one with Al.

I fell asleep in it today. I must've seen 10 minutes. Lady with son had cut her hand. Is it worth catching up with?

toldmywrath · 05/05/2017 19:01

Probably is, for a little bit of Al.

Anne - that happened to me with Corrie, I watched more or less continually for 30 years then about 18 months ago I just stopped. Not intentionally, just missed a couple, didn't catch up and let it slide. I've tried to watch it again but just can't summon up enough interest, makes me feel a little sad TBH. I find Doctors is much easier to get away with just watching the occasional episode though, there are far fewer characters and storylines to follow.

buggerthebotox · 05/05/2017 19:26

I hardly watch Corrie now either. I've watched it pretty regularly since the mid-70s, and just stopped. Same with Brookside, and 'Enders.

I can't seem to give up the Doctors habit though.

Wh0Kn0wsWhereTheTimeGoes · 05/05/2017 19:42

Yes, I did the same with those other soaps too. Brookside went so bizarre towards the end, the Dingles ruined Emmerdale for me and EE was just so grindingly depressing. Also when they all went 5 episodes a week I couldn't keep up. Never thought I'd give up Corrie though.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 05/05/2017 19:47

I did the same with Brookside and Eastenders, Who, and gave up Emmerdale Farm in disgust when they killed off Archie in the plane crash.

I didn't want Corrie for a couple of years, but went back. Never thought I'd feel this way about Doctors.

Wh0Kn0wsWhereTheTimeGoes · 05/05/2017 20:06

I'd forgotten about Archie. Did you watch it when TBFE was in it?

Raahh · 05/05/2017 20:39

Archie! He also in Line of Duty Grin as DS Hargreaves Grin

(Took me ages to place him at first though, confused him with Lofty on EastendersGrin)

Raahh · 05/05/2017 20:39

He was

AnneEyhtMeyer · 05/05/2017 21:34

Who - oh yes, I watched it from early childhood. I used to love it. I remember Annie & Grandad, Dolly, the lot of them!

redshoeblueshoe · 06/05/2017 13:47

Raah thank-you I've spent all week trying to figure out what Hargreaves had been in. That was a long time ago ! I still remember that in brookside Mick (I think) was reading about the Emmerdale plane crash in the newspaper Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 06/05/2017 15:46

Yes he was! I remember that newspaper too!

redshoeblueshoe · 06/05/2017 15:52

Well I've just had a quick google - the plane crash was 1993, that makes me feel old, on a brighter note, it was Mick - so my memory isn't as bad as I thought.

toldmywrath · 06/05/2017 16:17

I watched brookside right to the bitter end. I probably only ever missed a handful of episodes, because I used to VCR tape them.Blush

I don't remember Mick Johnson reading the emmerdale plane crash story, though a vague memory is creeping in as I type this.

I gave up on Corrie a few years ago. Up till then I, too, never missed an episode. And it used to be one of my Christmas viewing highlights.

Told - he was in the chippy. I have no idea why I remember that !

I watched the last few episodes of Brookside having given up on it a year or so earlier, the whole Lindsat Corkhill gangster stuff was just too far fetched for me. At it's prime it was some of the best TV I've ever seen.

buggerthebotox · 06/05/2017 17:41

It was brilliant when it started. So gritty and realistic. So many of those actors went on to do other things....Ricky Tomlinson, Amanda Burton, Anna Friel, Sue Johnston....

redshoeblueshoe · 06/05/2017 21:52

and of course - moobs man Grin

toldmywrath · 06/05/2017 21:56

He's got the moobs like Jagger! Grin bet he wished he did have Jagger's figure!
