Worm I totally agree. They are so busy trying to make everything soooo dramatic that its gotten to the stage where people stop caring.
And everyone has to rip everyone else off Confused

JaneJeffer · 28/07/2017 10:55

The bit in the locked room was farcical. It's a shame as the acting is great and would be gripping enough without all these extra twists. I don't know why they are so afraid to do a straightforward story.

I agree about Lachlan Jojoanna, he's such a good actor. It's nice to see two teenagers just snogging on the sofa instead of jumping into bed even if it isn't for the best of reasons!

I don't like Chrissie fancying her uncle! Wish they would give her a decent story. I'd put her with Ross instead of Debbie!

RightOnTheEdge · 28/07/2017 19:33

I never normally miss Emmerdale but I've missed loads lately. I had them all on record so I've just watched the last few and ff through everything except the trial.

I couldn't care less about Cain and Harriet.
I'm sick of the Emma thing dragging on.
I couldn't be bothered to watch Robert moping about. I absolutely loved Robron but they've totally ruined that.
And Megan and Frank are too boring for words

I'm just so glad Pierce got found guilty. But I don't know what will keep me watching now that's over. 😞

CaptainHammer · 28/07/2017 19:42

I did let out a little cheer when Pierce was found guilty but the rest of the programme is getting a bit meh. Especially the ridiculous Megan/Charity thing!

JaneJeffer · 28/07/2017 19:49

What a relief. I was sure he would get away with it! I was in tears when Lisa hugged Rhona.

Don't like Robert and Rebecca in the pub together. Adam is sure to give Aaron the wrong idea about them Sad

Cain and Moira still have the chemistry.

Sparklingbrook · 28/07/2017 20:50

I found it a bit unlikely that Moira would be encouraging Cain to be with Harriet.

They really need to speed some of these storylines along. Can we ff a few months? Grin

ellenanora5 · 28/07/2017 21:08

Thank feck he was found guilty, I couldn't have watched if it had dragged on and on.

I suppose she'll get back with Paddy now.

Aaron is going to be all moody and sulky when he gets back, I love him but it's getting tedious.

Wormulonian · 28/07/2017 21:49

Yes glad that's over but I doubt in reality it ever would have come to court (given the complex backstory) or if it did that he would have been found guilty based on the evidence.

I thought Cain was going to get Moira flowers not bleedin Harriet!

KinkyAfro · 29/07/2017 09:12

Harriet is so dull, at least Moira and even Charity had a bit about them. Wonder how the writers are going to progress that one....dully I expect

Jojoanna · 29/07/2017 10:40

I only like Cain when he's with Moira. Harriet and him have no chemistry, as a couple they are boring. There's no passion in any of it

redshoeblueshoe · 29/07/2017 12:17

I don't think they quite know what they are doing with Harriet. I didn't think she was suited to Ashley, or Cain. In fact I can't think of anyone except maybe Bob with the missing twins
Cain should be with Moira.

Sparklingbrook · 29/07/2017 12:37

i agree red.

In fact I don't think they know what to do with a lot of the characters. There are way too many of them, and most of them are surplus.

Wormulonian · 29/07/2017 13:41

Sparkling I agree. We virtually never see Brenda these days. I suppose the twins will turn up when they want to introduce new teens. I don't think we ever needed Harriet - I don't like her, not convinced by her.

I think they made a mistake with the Lachlan/Alicia sexual assault and now can't ignore it but don't know how to deal with it. I feel Emmerdale has lost its way.

Wormulonian · 29/07/2017 13:44

Just saw that the twins were born in 2007 - so they would be 10 now - would they not be friends and go to school with Dan's daughter - why are they not in the choir, habging about the cafe etc?

Sparklingbrook · 29/07/2017 13:45

YY it really has. There's not a single storyline that pulls you in and makes you care.
While it's all very dramatic to have fights, deaths, pregnancies and affairs etc, it's always good to have a few happy couples/families whose life seems to be on track.

I reckon they could get rid of at least half of the characters and there would be no uproar.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/07/2017 13:47

Rhona is a rural practice Vet. Large farm animals ..........unruly large animals .

Pierce (if he was as clever as he thought he was ) would've said
"Of course Rhona is covered in bruises, she deals with cows and horses "

Maybe it isn'r a done deal?
Pierces Mum didn't speak out.
Did Rhona tape his cofession? I thought she picked up her phone at the end of their confrontation.

southeastdweller · 29/07/2017 14:39

Worm Why do you think they made a mistake with the Lachlan/Alicia story?

redshoeblueshoe · 29/07/2017 20:28

south I can't speak for worm, but I think the way Lachlin and Belle were talking its like they are trying to minimise what happened with Alicia.

ellenanora5 · 30/07/2017 01:24

No, Belle was trying to minimize it, I posted that earlier, she was saying to Lachlan that what he did to Alicia wasn't the same, he was saying to her that it was, god knows I can't stand the little turd but for once he seemed to acknowledge what he did.

Sorry for hopping in there redshoeblueshoe but it really pissed me off when Belle was saying that, and she gets on my bloody nerves anyway. She's another one that could do with being fired.

OP posts:
southeastdweller · 30/07/2017 08:39

Yes, it's Belle who's trying to minimise it, not the writers. I think it's plausible that she makes a distinction between the man who raped her mother and was never convicted of the rape, and the inexperienced teenager she's seeing who acknowledges he did wrong. I'm not saying it's right but I find it (sadly) believable. I like that David and Eric haven't forgotten about what Lachlan did, still calling him creepy and a pervert etc.

bonfireheart · 30/07/2017 15:14

I thinks robert being friendly with Rebecca is some part of his dastardly plan to either get rid of her or to prove the baby isn't his.
I want Aaron to either be single for a while n his mum to return or get him a fit, young, handsome, fun boyfriend who doesn't make him cry!

Eastie77 · 31/07/2017 13:41

I can't watch scenes with Cain and the vicar, so ridiculous he would take up with a religious ex policewoman.

The actor who plays Lachlan outperforms all of his on screen family, its embarrassing.

Jojoanna · 31/07/2017 15:15

Totally agree eastie77 Cain storyline silly and unwatchable, Lachlan best actor in the family

JaneJeffer · 31/07/2017 23:43

Oh I wonder what Lachlan did to Tim!

southeastdweller · 01/08/2017 07:44

So 'Robron' are off now, by the end of the summer they'll be on again, then I'm predicting a Christmas break up because they won't be able to deal with the baby, then get back together a few months later, and so on. It's so boring.
