1] Does she have to be falling out of her top and be all cleavage in the morning? Put it away! Just read the news! Stop pouting!

2] Does she have to go to the Oscars? Really? Why does she have to be there?

You see, that's how I want to think of Silverton - occasionally hopeless in the fashion stakes, but great anyway. Like Kirsty Wark! With that blouse she was well on the way, but now she's sinking into identikit news poppet territory. Kirsty will never go there, of that we can be sure. And for that matter. Moira Stuart is another who has never sold out. Sexy, but resolutely unique and with brain still intact.

my dh can't stand her as "she can even read an autocue - what is the point of employing a news reader who can't read"

that kind of blokey shouting at the telly thing. I read something about the BBC getting in younger models and have taken down pics of Moria Stewart and Anna thingy in the lobby to put up Natasha Plinkyplonky and Kate Silverstone. I like Kirsty Walk best - the job is to be informed and able to communicate the news not a dolly bird twittering and giggling about chocolate. Makes me cross.

Megalegs - that was like visual trauma - I don't know how to recover from what you let me see - it's truly horrific.

Kirsty is the queen for me - I actually quite like it that she nearly loses it sometimes out of an excess of excitement! Like on Newsnight review when she's reviewing a programme she makes a cameo in! Oh Kirsty!

last time I saw moira stewart on the news she had been botoxed so severely that she could barely move her lips (even less than usual)

Exactly ipanemagirl - I think some producers fail to realise that we like a woman who actually has her own personality, intelligence, opinions and foibles. Kirsty rules!

Kate Silverton was all demure and sensibly dressed today! My email to BBC Breakfast obviously worked! Much easier to listen to someone who isn't writhing out of their own shirt.
Bravo Silverton of the hugely pouty lips well done for dressing appropriately for the job huzzah!

I get the feeling that she's extremely ambitious and this has propelled her to be BBC's flagship news presenter. The other 2 or 3 female presenters are probably miffed about how well she's perceived by the bosses compared to them. She's not in Kirsty's league though. In that new look Panorama she was atrocious. She also looks dreadful in the morning, hair all over the place, thick orange make up and weird blouses woth frills and laces that look like they come from some German boutique.

she went to cambridge university if i remember rightly - she also used to present the horroscope show!

Kate Silverton is clever, but I don't think she's as clever as she thinks she is. She used to do the Wright Stuff a lot when she was a current affairs wannabe and I found her views were often pretty insubstantial.

She redeemed herself a bit in my eyes last Xmas when she was reporting from Iraq - not from the journalist compound but out on the frontline.
