'twas cack last night, was it not?
So much to cringe about:
The clunky dialogue (according to the credits, Alan Plater wrote it )
Rebecca Front can't act
Ridiculous Geordie hacker character (what's the betting they asked Jimmy Nail first)
Those 80s-style Sloaney studes with their champagne/punting
Who on earth would like to stay in that malmaison? It looked hideous.
I liked the pilot and 1st episode, but oh dear, this was dreadful.

The Foxes have those good looks which wear well and even when craggy look better than many a pretty boy, methinks.

Yes, I agree - Edward Fox has it too.

I liked the bantering tone of last night which was totally absent in the Geordie episode, ie the pathologist wasn't Morse always a bit in love with her? hinting at a crush on Hathaway... you got that sense of all the characters (apart from Rebecca Front who remains pretty unconvincing) having a hinterland. Also loved the shrink lady (played by Phoebe wotsit, who was Cordelia in Brideshead).

And that brill bit when the headmaster greeted Hathaway and Lewis as if they were gay dads.

I never understood the original Morses or saw the solutions coming so this one didn't feel like a swizz to me.
