Australian kids show - did I imagine it?

Hi, this has been bugging me for some time. I've googled a lot but still can't find this programme so I wonder if anyone here might remember it.

I think I remember watching an Australian kids show in late 80s / early 90s. It was a bit dark / spooky. I think it was set in early settler times, they didn't live in proper houses and there was a school in this settlement.

That's all I remember! Does it ring any bells with anyone? I know it's a long shot. Thanks!

Was it Seven Little Australians ? One of the girls died falling out of a tree .

Children of Fire Mountain? Set in New Zealand, not Australia, but definitely early settlers.

Round the twist

Joining in to say Children of Fire Mountain too. Definitely set in NZ and there was one episode where the volcano erupted - the eponymous Fire Mountain.

Was there a threat of being sent to Bendigo Boys Home? I remember an Australian kids show and all I remember is several urchin type boys and an overhanging threat of ending up in Bendigo Boys Home.

Round The Twist Grin

MrsNuckyThompson · 30/01/2017 20:22

Wasn't round the twist set in modern days and they lived in a light house?!

SavoyCabbage · 30/01/2017 20:23

Round the twist wasn't set in early settled times. It was the 90's! The 1990s

SavoyCabbage · 30/01/2017 20:23

*settler

I recently watched round the twist you YouTube. It's as good now as it was then, the kids loved it!

mewkins · 30/01/2017 20:29

Hehhee surely australia has only been around as long as neighbours?! (Or possibly I should read the actual post before answering!)

Davros · 30/01/2017 20:36

Skeleton in the Dunny is a strong memory from around The Twist. Brilliant!

Chippednailvarnishing · 30/01/2017 20:37

I'm humming the Round the twist theme now!

TheCustomaryMethod · 30/01/2017 20:41

Have you ever, ever felt like this?
Have strange things happened?
Are you going round the twist?

Definitely contemporary (ie. 1990s)!

Glowbug59 · 30/01/2017 21:09

Haha round the twist was dark but no not that one. I'll have a look at your suggestions now thanks! That falling out the tree is ringing bells

There used to be a show called 'Snobs' but I'm not sure what era it was set in..

Merrylegs · 30/01/2017 21:20

She didn't fall out of the tree. She did A Very Brave and Noble Thing.

Glowbug59 · 30/01/2017 21:20

Nope thanks, I've looked the suggestions but it was definitely set earlier, like colonies. So frustrating have such a vague memory.

Golden Pennies?

Glowbug59 · 31/01/2017 08:19

Thanks but not those. Thanks Condensed, I've looked but have no idea what it's called. In fact I'm thinking it wasn't a programme and some past life flashback! Hmm
