why didn't nikkies mum come and help look after the kids for the opening of the restaurant?

why didn't they give the bloke some training on front of house stuff - they 'tested' him on it, he was crap and then they did nothing about it.

why didn't they put someone alongside him as an advisor instead of waiting for him to mess up and then undo the damage?

I wondered why the girlfriend, not sure of her name, didn't get some training in running front of house/running restaurant etc before opening.

If you've never worked in a restaurant before it's almost impossible to just walk right in and think you can do it, as they discovered. It's a stressful, busy environment and you do need to have a fair idea of what you're doing before jumping in with both feet. A few hours a week for a couple of weeks with someone showing you the ropes would have helped her immensly (sp?)

Felt sorry for the little girl saying that she never got to see any of her friends from school because they were always so busy in the pub.

Glad to see it all came right in the end though.

Well, there names are still down as landlord for that place - googled it - so it must be going fine.

I suspect they do have advisers, etc. - but that doesn't make as good a TV programme for Channel 4!

Oh and those two men in the bar commenting on how there were too many things on the menu - anyone else think they'd been watching Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares?

too many things on a menu is a really common mistake though, confusing for customers and too much for the kitchen to handle. We only have three choices at each course in our restaurant and it works really well. The first night Dh and I opened our restaurant was the first night I had done any waitressing and I was in charge!! I really felt for his girlfriend, it is really hard running a husband and wife set up, you give each other abuse all night but have to just forget about it once service is over and you are back at home. It took me a while to get used to this.
