If I remember rightly, think it was a bit depressing.

tiredemma · 17/02/2007 20:08

I replied Cod- did you not see??

they are Ok- cousins girlfriend is a bit apprhensive about going out. Wont press charges though. The thigs are from a well known family of scrotums so cousin was concerned about idiots putting his windows through etc.

I thought it was excellent when I watched it. Not an easy viewing but fantastically well observed. The attention to detail is brilliant and Imelda Staunton acts her part incredibly well. Despite the subject matter there is humour and warmth.

excellent but sad

tiredemma · 17/02/2007 20:09

is it graphic?

OP posts:
yoyo · 17/02/2007 20:10

Graphic - in what sense? You won't feel repulsed or have to hide behind a cushion but it is moving on so many levels. Watch out for the relationships she has with her family.

woodworm · 17/02/2007 20:10

What time is it on, I don't finish work til 9.

Cloudhopper · 17/02/2007 20:10

What's it about? How would you rate it on a scale of 1 - depressing, 10 = uplifting?

Not uplifting apart from in a cinematic sense.

suejonez · 17/02/2007 20:16

no not graphic just very tormented

tiredemma · 17/02/2007 20:19

Rita, Sue and Bob Too... watched that as a teen and oh how we laughed. Watched it a while ago and didn't!

tiredemma · 17/02/2007 20:23

OP posts:
yoyo · 17/02/2007 20:32

Am trying to remember who starred in it (R,S and B) and what they went on to do. Anyone remember?

MiaWallace · 18/02/2007 09:30

Sue played Terry's wife in Emmerdale and was also in Goodnight Sweetheart

Bob was in Shirley Valentine and some kid's programme about ghosts (IIRC)

No idea about Rita

suejonez · 18/02/2007 10:39

Did you watch it tiredemma?

tiredemma · 18/02/2007 10:40

rita

sue

bob too

lots of tv/film done between them.

Back to Vera Drake. Thought it was fantastic, glad I watched it. Bloody dark and miserable but thought provoking.

Attention to detail of 1950's life was fantastic.

Was it based on a real person/true story?

I watched it, thought it was good but thought it was an odd subject to make a film about if it wasn't a true story. I know it happened like that in the "olden days" but.......
