What would Douglas Adams make of it, I wonder?

I've added it to my list. I'm not expecting anything wonderful, I think Douglas Adams' work is very hard to televise.

It is. Pretty much impossible to adapt and never as good.

This is actually pretty good on its own terms though.

I absolutely love the Dirk Gently books and watched the first episode yesterday.

When it didn't start with an Electric Monk sat on a bored horse I must admit I was disappointed. And Dirk looks nothing like book Dirk.

But I'll carry on watching I think and think of him as Dirk jnr maybe!!

He did mention the sofa though so it could be fun watching this to see how many references to the original they drop in.

And now I want to read The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul again. Any book that starts "It can hardly be a coincidence that no language on Earth has ever produced the expression "as pretty as an airport" " can only be brilliant.

Douglas Adams' work is hard to televise but I do think they did a pretty good job with the original hhgttu.

I haven't read the books but I am enjoying the series. It reminds me a little of the first series of the Fringe.
