Hilda Ogden - especially with Stan's specs when he died but always great: comic, tragic, and always played with absolute truth.

Most of the Corrie women have been fab, Ena, Bet, Elsie, even Mavis - right up to today with crackers like Eileen and Blanche. It's the only consistently well written soap imo.
