New thread as the last one is getting very full.

I hope Ed stays - his timing is very good. Daisy seems nice, but a bit boring, although Daisy Daisy is very nice for a Viennese.

Ore's had a better series overall, mainly because of the Jive, but I actually think Laura was better just then and deserved to stay if based purely on the dance off.

SoupDragon · 06/11/2016 19:59

wasn't better

ThursdayLastWeek · 06/11/2016 20:00

I agree with you fizzing

DiegeticMuch · 06/11/2016 20:00

I suppose it's awkward being partnered with your close friend's recent ex. Maybe that's what stopped Laura's personality coming through.

If Ed improves a little again next week he might well be in Blackpool. Who'd have thought!?!

GrouchyKiwi · 06/11/2016 20:02

I agree, fizzingwhizbees. She fixed her mistakes and Ore danced worse than he did earlier.

ellenanora5 · 06/11/2016 20:03

Oh your not the only ones Moonrise and TheOnlyLivingBoy, I'm beyond irritated by them ever since they joined, and the constant gushing from the judges does nothing to change my opinion about them, and that AT was not half as good as others have been.

I'm sorry to see Laura go, but that dance was all about Joe Varney.

Catch you all next week Grin

MrsJamin · 06/11/2016 20:06

I feel sorry for Laura, I think her "strictly journey" has been hampered by being with her friend's ex, it must be very awkward all round!

digerd · 06/11/2016 20:09

Ore didn't smile in the dance off and he danced without his usual sparkle. However, his content compared to Laura's was far superior in difficulty and skill.
Laura danced with more sparkle in the DO and I thought the judges would vote for her.

Louise's AT was really exciting to watch and was her best expressive dance so far.

MummyToOneGirl · 06/11/2016 20:10

I feel sorry for her too. She sounds like a good friend if she was that worried about being seen as too friendly with Giovanni, but it's a shame it ruined the experience for her.

emotionsecho · 06/11/2016 20:12

I was so pleased that Daisy wasn't in the dance off and I, for once, predicted correctly that Ore and Laura would be on their performance last night!

They both danced better in the dance off but it was a foregone conclusion that Ore would go through.

What I like about Greg, Judge and Ed is that they are trying to learn and improve, are clearly enjoying dancing and their enthusiasm for it shines through and is infectious. They are so much more enjoyable to watch than the likes of Anne Widdecombe, Judy Murray, Nancy Del'Ollio, Lulu, etc., who just wouldn't make any effort which is so annoying as people who watch would give their eye teeth to be taught to dance by professionals (and be paid for the privilege).

CaveMum · 06/11/2016 20:16

Dammit, didn't realise there was a new thread!

To summarise what I said over there: Laura had poor hip action/body movement through most of her Samba, most noticeably in her travelling volta and botofogos.

In her defence, the music was ridiculously fast. In international competition there is a set bpm (beats per minute) range for each style of dance. Samba is set at 48-52 with the video below showing 51 bpm as a guide.

Bamboleo (which Laura and Joe Varney) danced to is 119 bpm! It's ridiculous to expect a novice to dance at that speed.

ilovesooty · 06/11/2016 20:16

I think Ore was miffed to be in the dance off. He and Joanne were always going through though.

AvaCrowder · 06/11/2016 20:16

I'm really pleased that Daisy was not in the dance off. Her mum was there last night. She seems like such a lovely person. Daisy.

Ed's dance was great. He's quite light on his feet for a bit of a boiler shaped man. I really like Katye too.

I think although she looks like a great dancer it was right that Laura went tonight.

Louise and Kevin seem dull like hell to me.

Absolutely agree! Dancing is such a joyful activity - I would give my eye teeth AND sacrifice my children on the altar of Terpsichore for the chance that some of these sour-faced miseries just throw away. Sad

They're just SPOILT!

What's a botofogo?

Millimat · 06/11/2016 20:20

If the poster upthread has found some pics of Greg in shorts please feel free to share Grin

CaveMum · 06/11/2016 20:30

2kids it's a standard Samba figure, one that you learn very early on. There are several different ways of dancing them, relating to whether you are facing your partner, in front of them, etc. Laura and Joe Varney danced a few criss-cross botafogo's, which should look like this:

TimTamTerrier · 06/11/2016 20:33

I really hope Daisy makes it to the final. I always really love her dances on the second viewing, she's just not as show-biz and flashy as some of the other dancers but she and Claudia have the best technique IMO.

MrsJamin · 06/11/2016 20:40

This tweet made me laugh :
The bit where Giovanni choreographs him doing 500 moves per second and Laura rubbing her belly and smiling was my favo bit. #scd

2kids2dogsnosense · 06/11/2016 20:48

Thanks Cavemum.

All is clear.

I'm really enjoying this series, particularly Judge Rinder who seems to be old school charming. Gregs's little girl was so cute last night too.

GrouchyKiwi · 06/11/2016 21:35

Brendan's Digital Spy column this week is interesting. He mentions overmarking (but doesn't say who), undermarking (Ed) and talks about Anton's baby news. Seems like they are great friends, which is kind of sweet.

awaynboilyurheid · 06/11/2016 21:35

I will miss Giovanni I could watch him dancing all night Laura was a bit stiff so she deserved to go. Didn't see what the big fuss was about Louse's tango it was good but not amazing , she really has zero personality even when Kevin was giving the pep talk he was saying really lovely things to her she was just saying drearily saying thanks yes ...
