C4 now - scary dancing kids - with make up !

A wee bit of make up is okay for nights out/competitions like this etc.. but the state of the ones on the telly were ridiculous!!

Day glo dresses - shes 9! there is nothing wrong with that!

Plus - you dont sound like your one of those pushy mama's!!

Well I expected to be horrified by this programme and end up switching off but I have to say I'm just amazed at how accomplished the children were. All right, the make-up etc made me grit my teeth a bit and I can't stand parents who yell from the sidelines. Also I didn't like the way all the children sounded as if they had been brainwashed by too many pop-idol type tv shows (not that I watch them but I've just read Ben Elton's new book so I get the gist ). But, I didn't get any 'sexual' overtones, unlike those Pageants that they do in America. It was just dancing, and they were good!

Thought Ellie's parents were WAY to pushy it was all for "them" and not for her IMO. Tabitha's mum seemed more chilled about it - and Tabbitha seemed quite happy with her dancing life.

The brother and sister duo - well I think the mum just had too much money and didn't know how else to spend it - got the feeling if they both quit dancing it wouldn't be the end of the world for her (unlike Ellie's parents) as she'd find something else to spend shed loads of money on.

The makeup and beauty prep was soooo OTT

They are children. It doesn't affect their dancing whether they wear moderate makeup of slap it on thick, why doesn't anyone tell the mothers that !
