Help non sports enthusiasts! Box sets suggestions please!

We're looking for something to watch in the summer doldrums.

Loved the West Wing (the all time great, viewed several times) but have also enjoyed House of Cards, Scandal (schlocky but addictive), and, on the recommendation of people on here, Madam Secretary.

Suggestions, please, for similar!

Not all in the political drama genre (only VEEP, in fact) - but they're some of my favourites.

I love sport, does that mean I can't watch box sets too?

I suggest you invest in Netflix, it'll see you through this summer and the next and the next.

Dexter seems popular - all I know is that main character is a serial killer, but I guess there's more to it than that! The Americans sounds worth checking out too.

I only started watching Game of Thrones in april Smooshface, couldn't believe I waited so long, it's fantastic

I watched The Practice on box set, it's good, no ER but not bad.

Glad someone mentioned The Wire. After much deliberation, its my first ever boxset. I'm downloading it now as we've finally got good wifi.

Cant wait to get the kids to bed.

Also keeping an eye on other suggestions. I fear i may never leave the sofa again.
