The Wire when will i finally get into it?

I liked Season one but it was hard with the accents. Im halfway through Season 2 its not easy watching is it? So much going on is it lime this all the way through?

Hang on in there...season 2 is generally considered the weakest, but season 4 is absolutely outstanding.

And put subtitles on. Makes things so much easier.

You cant when you are downloading it from Sky though. I cant remember why they dont like McNulty its doing my head in and i cant google incase i see spoilers.

definitely stick with it. I too, got frustrated at times, but it was worth it!

I agree with needing subtitles, I was also confused by some characters having two names.

I found the wire wiki page helpful for filling the gaps in my understanding.

I bloody loved it but I had to watch with sub titles and also check out the Wikipedia entry for every episode after watching to make sure I had correctly worked out what was happening!

They don't like mcnulty because he went direct to the judge at the beginning of s1 when the bosses wouldn't do something they thought he should.
S2 is the hardest going imo

It's my favourite series ever!
You need to concentrate ... Like game of thrones, no phones, no talking. We were getting through 3 or 4 episodes a night at one stage.

It's not an easy series because the subject is hard (and it gets no easier).
It makes Breaking Bad look like total light dross.

I love Stringer and McNulty.

All I can advise is stick with it! Utterly brilliant series. It took me about 5 episodes to click with the accents/dialect etc.

I just started watching it on sky box sets and I'm now on season 3.
Season 2 was a bit slow and long winded.
I can hear what they say but at times don't understand what they mean.
I also find the poverty depressing.
Season 3 is much better, it has a more modern feel

I love season two, it might be my favourite. It's like a Greek tragedy. Season three is the weakest by my reckoning (ignoring S5 which should never have happened)

So I rate them 2 > 4 > 1 > 3 > 5

Although Cutty first appears in S3 and he's one of my favourite characters.

Did Stringer arrange to have D'angelo bumped off? I've just finished that episode. I never saw it coming.

Season 2 McNulty

End of S1 Rawls stuck him on the boat for perpetually fucking the department over for his own ends.

In Season 2 Rawls is pissed off with him over him getting involved with the dead girls in the can and declaring 14 Jane Doe's the responsibility of his department and going to great lengths to prove it was Rawls jurisdiction. Thus out of spite Rawls won't allow him on the detail.

I've watched 1-4 about 5 times. Agreed 5 is fearsome weak. I'll be your Wire guru if you need help.

Going off on a tangent here but i wonder why theres so many Brits in it? I think that about alot of show tbh its not like theres a shortage of great US actors. Also, when it happens vice versa its never convincing is it? So, how do those Brits sound to Americans?
