Completely shocked at the food waste! Hadn't realised the scale of veg waste.

Less shocked by Amazon packaging, it's ridiculous.

Oh I forgot to mention the coffee cups, everyone assumes they're recyclable don't they?! Not so says Hugh.

I'm just starting it on replay but I remember the parsnip farm from ages ago, it was utterly ridiculous that they weren't sold!

Kalispera · 28/07/2016 21:24

God I wish he'd piss off and stop haranguing the general public.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 28/07/2016 21:27

Is it not a good thing he's doing kalispera? I get it's annoying being approached in the street but people don't have to stop and talk to him.

I just found out about the coffee cups the other week after merrily
chucking at least one a day in the recycling for years.

Fucking hell.

As soon as I found out I bought a travel mug and the coffee shops all seem OK to fill it up for me.

Shenanagins · 28/07/2016 21:50

I think it's good that this is being highlighted as i had no idea that coffee cups couldn't be recycled.

Theknacktoflying · 28/07/2016 21:55

Good for him ...

EmpressOfTheVaginaDentata · 29/07/2016 06:58

Two BILLION coffee cups in landfill every year is a horrendous figure.

MajesticSeaFlapFlap · 29/07/2016 07:20

I can't believe the big coffee chains not doing Anything.

Total shitbags.

Kalispera · 29/07/2016 08:14

I'm sure it is a good thing in some way. I'm just sick of chefs becoming celebrities who then have to justify their TV contract by slagging us all off for not doing the things they have time for that we don't, like lovingly tending our veg patches every day, keeping chickens, etc.

I'd love to do those things but actual life sometimes means I have to get my veg from Tesco.

Destinysdaughter · 29/07/2016 08:27

I watched it and yes the amount of waste is shocking. I think it's excellent that he is using his celebrity status to highlight this waste. Looking at a field of thousands of cauliflowers that would all Be left to rot simply because they weren't white enough was dreadful! He's actually done a lot to encourage us, the consumer to put pressure on the supermarkets to relax their standard in having to have 'perfect' looking vegetables and is now trying to do the same with coffee cups. They will only change if we speak out about it. He's now asking us to message Stsrtbucks, Costa and Nero about this using the #no waste.

I don't drink coffee but think it's a brilliant idea!

What about all the yoghurt pots - how many people have a pud from a plastic container.
I know I do but at least feel a bit guilty about it.

I tried making pud in a bowl at home, it was better than bought but I just ate more of it!
