Right, this is a very small thing but every time I watch ER I think about it...

...when Dr Pratt does something foolish noone ever makes a joke about his name. I take it that prat is a British English word then?

is his first name Randy?

i was waiting for one of those jokes tonight when the woman looked at his name badge and thought she was going to say something like 'hmm dr pratt... fitting name!' but noooo

Jamieboo, that's exactly what prompted me to bring it up - seemed such an obvious response!

Thanks Califrau, and I'm sure there must be some British English words that are equally funny to Americans but can't think of any...
