Anyone watching George Clarke's Old House New Home?

Argh!!!! It's driving me mad. What is with all the dark, dark walls everywhere, whole rooms reduced to caves?!
Oh and the museum-seque recreation of the period rooms. Pah.

I watch it. They do use a strange mix of dark colours but I do like George in this programme. I don't usually. Bring back Sarah Beeny

I didn't enjoy this offering from George. Love the one where he follows people on their bigger projects though. He's an architect so I don't think the decorating concentration of this programme really suited him. Hated the style of those beautiful old houses.

I live in a victorian building.
anytime someone (usually a builder) says 'original to the house' I get a bad itch.
there is a reason drafty fireplaces were covered up or replaced with better heating sources. and upvc double/triple glasing is a good thing!

Did anyone see the first episode, he made a cottage in Devon so lovely for a girl who had quite clearly had a tragedy recently. He did a really good job I thought and seemed to really care.

Spot on about the museum esque quality of some of the buildings he does though. Stuffed birds anyone?

I love the dark walls - my dressing room is black and looks brilliant - at least i love it anyway

I hated the one he did with the flat in St Leonard's...it was so bloody dark that you couldn't see the rooms properly

Looking forward to seeing what he does with this Art Deco house (on catch up) what an amazing house in its day.

Wasn't keen on the pink, green, stripe ceiling decor but an amazing house transformation in a dream location.

not overkeen on some of the internal decoration but I thought the exterior was fabulous. I think they should have reinstated the rails above the front door though

Oh I only watched the art deco house , it was fabulous, the walk across that bridge to it would've done my head in though .

I love his understated "The last owners were insensitive" They had murdered a beautiful house!!!!
