His mother was irish, so I thought there was a chance he might have been born there. If so, I could have got an irish passport. Which means Im still an eu citizen and can go and work freely in spain if we need / want to move there.

bads do it, Id recommend it to anyone who can. If your child has an eu passport they can still study, live and work freely in any eu country. Seems well worth it to give them that choice.

I've just messaged my cousin and aunt to see if they can get the application forms for me...you can't do online and need to go to the embassy in London (if I've understood the website correctly!)

DC are half Scottish so I suppose they could play sport for the Scottish national team. That's not much use is it? And one of my parents is originally from t'other side of t'Pennines but that may be Taking Things Too Far
