It's a remake of an Aussie series that was on two or three years ago, I think. It was v.good, as I recall. As was the book.

paniniswapx3 · 19/05/2016 23:49

The main character just seems to completely overact to me ( Zachary Quinto) which is disappointing & he's so unlikeable that the moral question doesn't really stack up as you just want him to get prosecuted (even though I thought the kid & his family were nightmare drama queens originally!).

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/05/2016 16:27

I want to slp all of themHmm

I hated the book, not even sure why I'm watching the series Grin

Rushyswife · 21/05/2016 09:10

I don't think it works as well see in America. I think Aussie culture was pretty central to the book and original to series. Well acted though. A great cast

Lilaclily · 27/05/2016 07:04

I'm enjoying the US series, it's got a great cast, Uma thurman, thandie newton,

Paniniswapx3 · 12/06/2016 23:31

This is growing on me now - enjoyed last week & this weeks episodes. Like the stories of the characters rather than the stuff about the Slap though!

"I think Aussie culture was pretty central to the book and original to series. "

I don't agree with that. There's a clash of cultures and while there is a nationality/ethnic component to it (macho Greek/Australian culture versus Australian "hippies") I thought it explored issues that are also relevant here. I don't know about USA.
