Did they ever announce what type of cancer she had?

TendonQueen · 15/05/2016 19:54

Can't believe Tony Maiden (who?) beat both her and Les Dennis to win New Faces. Just shows you, the real winners often come in second or third...

madmother1 · 15/05/2016 19:55

It's brilliant Smile

I read brain cancer somewhere. Also she found out about the cancer six months before she died.

The last scene where Victoria reads from the book 'Swish of The Curtain' and then says fabulous has had me in tears. What a really loved Woman she was by all who knew her.

She was described as a loner too.

The whole hour has been joyous. So, so sad that she's died.

Hobbes8 · 15/05/2016 21:35

I had completely forgotten about The Day We Sang, which she wrote. that was so lovely and funny - of course it had her written all over it.

EachandEveryone · 16/05/2016 03:47

A few months ago a colleague drove into a car park in north London to go to Waitrose she was fishing around for some change when someone banged on her car window. It was VW saying that she was just leaving so my friend should save her money and take her ticket. How lovely was she?

MyFriendsCallMeOh · 16/05/2016 05:00

Just watched, am in bits. We still talk about sitting next to the rear gunner if we take a budget flight.....

ShelaghTurner · 16/05/2016 10:49

Any time he has to ring a company with one of those complicated phone things DH always says "pain, lump, tired" in a squeaky voice...

Dancergirl · 20/05/2016 19:06

each I saw VW in Brent Cross a few years ago. I was on the up escalator and she was on the down. When I saw it was her I smiled and she smiled back. When I got to the top I did consider going back down and saying hello or ask for her autograph but I thought that might be a bit stalker-ish so I didn't.

I did meet her at the stage door after one of her Albert Hall shows though.

I can't believe she's gone either. I've been a huge fan of hers since my teens. I've been watching loads of her sketches on You Tube.

MissBattleaxe · 21/05/2016 17:36

She was such an amazing social commentator, yet never cruel. She had a brilliant economy with language. "72 baps, Connie. You slice, I'll spread". I don't know why she wasn't a dame. I can't name anyone as talented as her. She could write brilliantly, act, compose and play music, and perform stand up superbly. All those things alone are hard to get right and she could do them all.
