No the guy wasn't the original attacker, but he lied, which made it confusing. At the time of the original attack he was being interviewed by police, over an issue regarding his boss.

Are they actually biological cousims though. I wasn't watching properly but thought mother of child died so wet nursed by another (non related) female who also had baby. This meant they were "cousins" in eyes of others. These two then had a child each who are the protagonists in the story?

I think that is just the story that is being told by the voice over (which I think is a traditional story).

Not bad today. I think the mil (used to be in eatenders) trashed the car and 'repented ' at the end with the offer of discount. Just confusing her being in both stories. Nice to see Ruhma doing her sonograpger bit again today but clearly she is the sonograpger of doom as last time something was wrong with the baby too.
