I'm halfway through episode four (no spoilrs please) of season one.

I'm amazed at the way such a dark and depressing series has me gripped already. And there's something about David Tennant's character and Olivia Colman's and the way they relate (or fail to relate) The dynamic is really interesting - the way she invites him to dinner because she feels she has to. The way she asks if she can call him by his first name and he says "I never liked Alec. A-lec" and she and her husband just exchange looks as if to say "well, what the fuck do we call you then?" "See, when I look at you, you know I'm taking to you, I don't have to keep repeating your name to create false intimacy". Had me laughing out loud, surprisingly.

First series was totally addictive and brilliant. Second series not so much!

Was it really disappointing? I love both actors so much, I may be a little over invested already!

First series is excellent and keeps you guessing all the way through (no spoilers) but I think a second series (which I did not continue to watch having read the reviews) even with the excellent actors (and I am not a fan of David Tennant) was a step too far - some series should know when to stop.Smile
a classic example of knowing when enough is enough was the spin-off 'Ashes to Ashes' from the rivetting 'Life on Mars'

I lost interest after they kept the forensic tent on the beach for weeks. They obviously control the moon to stop the tide coming in!

I must confess I'm having a belated obsession with DT, having completely missed out on doctor who at the time, so wonder if I'll feel the same about the second series when the time comes, Mollie. Probably in a couple of nights as I reckon I can squeeze in the remaining 3 episodes tonight! If the DC's sleep.

Aw no, Twinkie that's a massive plot hole I didn't spot!

I think what I like about him is that I have no idea why I fund him so riveting. He's quite average when I think of all the men I know in RL. Something about him though...
