What a (cheap) load of old rubbish.

And why doesn't anything nice EVER happen in Victorian London?!

Just about to turn it off and go to bed and read my book. Which BTW is fantastic. It's called the Fourth Bear and it's by Jasper Fforde.

I really like the guy playing Dracula but in this he looks really awful -and not just because of the teeth and large amounts of blood dripping form his mouth.

southeastastra · 28/12/2006 22:10

ruby in the smoke was quite good last night, i'm watching swap shop which is like the keith chegwin show - what an annoying wally he is

LieselVonGiftwrapp · 28/12/2006 22:18

Victorian London was a bit mince actually, what with Jack the Ripper, Dracula and typhoid

LieselVonGiftwrapp · 28/12/2006 22:18

Im watching swap shop

Gingeme · 28/12/2006 22:46

Yeah was pretty crap wasnt it? Glad I didnt live in those times realy. Was pretty miserable. Cant believe I had my bath and got my lo's in bed especialy to watch it

JackieNoHoHo · 28/12/2006 23:40

Anyone else have a Soupy the Bat flash when the Dracula bat was crawling up Minna's curtains? I think I may be MNing too much...

It was a bit much, wasn't it. I don't think the whole syphilis thing was in the original book, was it? It's ages since I read it so can't remember.

expatinscotland · 28/12/2006 23:48

that was SHIT!

FairytaleOfNewNORKSBRIDE · 28/12/2006 23:55

Very succinct, Expat. I thought it might be bad so I didn't bother watching. Glad I didn't miss out.

ledodgychristmasjumper · 29/12/2006 00:19

Was this the film or something new?

FairytaleOfNewNORKSBRIDE · 29/12/2006 00:29

It was a one-off on BBC1(?) with Marc Warren wearing the teeth.

ledodgychristmasjumper · 29/12/2006 00:30

Oh bollocks I just assumed it was the film which i've seen i would have watched it otherwise!

expatinscotland · 29/12/2006 00:37

be glad you were spared, it was SHIT.

I thought Marc Warren made a great count, but they raced through the (considerably changed) story so fast there was no time to develop any of the characters. Good to see Dan wotsit from Line of Beauty on our screens again though!

CountessDracula · 29/12/2006 12:18

Ahem
leave my pants out of it

LittleSarah · 29/12/2006 12:20

Another not impressed here, I only watched about half an hour... molesworth - talk about considerably changed! I mean I know it often helps to change bits when televising things but jeez, just make it up as you go along why don't you?

What was the point? Just to get the syphilis bit in there but the actual vampire story was exactly the same. Very disappointing, bring back Mr Teatime.

He's like a young Malcolm McDowell (think A Clockwork Orange) - that's why I like him, so good at playing nasties.

willandsamsmum · 31/12/2006 20:15

DH went to be after about an hour ranting about why people feel the need to change a classic and the very loose use of the word 'Adaptation' - not impressed at all.
