Silent witness- a bit scary

I have just watched both parts of Silent Witness and boy oh boy did it pack a punch this week. The female jihadist was a drug smuggler, and put her man, religion and jihad before her baby. The male jihadist killed a religious leader and his own father. Wow.

The scary bit was when the female jihadist was shot dead by a police marksman at the end despite her lowering her gun and about to give herself up. Blooming heck BBC. Pretty scary stuff.

What do others think?

Its too ludicrously unrealistic to be scary IMO. I mean why are they there at every stave or the investigation when they're just forensic people, not detectives? If you were the boss of an independent forensics lab and were engaged to investigate a murder, would you then immediately go home with the lead detective and shag her? And would a police officer identify a terrorist in a disused building, run away, get to her car and then casually turn around, lounge against the car, back to the bad guys and take a call from that nights shag. Silly.

It is so full of unutterably stupid inconsistencies that it is almost painful to watch. But DH loves it so we do.
Of course the police take their entire (private company) pathology team to a terrorist hostage situation and place them between the marksmen and the terrorists just so they get a good view of events.
Of course super important policeman says "this is all being played out for the media" and then orders unnecessary shooting in front of said media... with no media backlash at all.
Just like last week, Nicky went to process the suspects' home, despite the suspect apparently having put out a hit on her... definitely no conflict of interest there.
It is dire.

Although I thought Lisa Tarbuck was excellent last week and acted the rest of the cast off the screen.

Exactly, why were they involved with the entire anti terrorism investigation? They're pathology/forensics!

Yes, I agree that they do appear to have so much time on their hands to chase criminals that you do wonder when they get their actual forensic work done! I agree that the forensic team are dysfunctional in their personal life but the shagging hurts no one but themselves so is on a different level to what I took from the program this week.

I was more thinking of the subliminal messages given out by the BBC.

I felt the subliminal message was that Muslim/Jihadists are all dysfunctional drug traffikers, illegally entering into the UK on false passports, would kill their own fathers, or religious leaders, would lie to their family, steal, kill, abandon their baby to pursue their religious beliefs. And be hunted down and shot dead without a second thought. I would not be very happy atm if I was a Muslim. None were shown in an honourable or good light. Even the Iman was slow to involve police in a potential terrorist activity which led to his death (he phoned the female Jihadist which alerted her partner to kill him). Another subliminal message.

The BBC set out a bit of a shocker imho.

Just to let you know I do overanalyse Disney movies too for the subliminal messages, as well as enjoying programmes like the Simpsons on both levels.

I thought that shooting the woman at the end when she'd lowered her gun was unlikely in front of so many witnesses. I totally believe that it happens, but not in front of news crews, a large group of spectators, an MP and people from other agencies.

The shooting of the female at the end was the shocker for me. I was looking for the "happy ending" that would underpin the Christian message that everyone is worth saving.
On the news it said today that more UK police are to be trained to carry firearms in London whilst on duty.

I hope we never become like America in this country. I hope that the BBC is not prepping us to accept armed police on our London streets as a matter of course.

The only thing I got from tonight's episode is that the forensic team had zero effect on the outcome of the story. That's two hours the BBC owe me. TWO HOURS!!!!!!!

Ok! I totally think now that I see monsters in every wardrobe! I think I need a hobby.

I still like to question everything I see, read or hear via the media. Just a child of the 60's really.

Are endless blowdries and hair-style changes included in the Forensic analyst (?) job package? Because I feel like I might have to become one!

I need to know why the seem to permanently work in the dark.
Will someone switch the bladdy light on?
