films we are looking at are

hidden
history of violence
walk the line
wolf creek
three burials of melquiades estrada
king kong

three burials of melquiades... was good.
Together, a swedish film, was funny and really good, if you don't mind subtitles. What about oldies but goodies like Fargo?
Amores Perros, also good (but Spanish- subtitles).
Volver.(Also Spanish, with penelope Cruz.)
I liked walk the line too.
Oh and Mrs Henderson was really good.
Vera Duckworth was great.
Must go do the bath routine but if I think of more I'll add them... BAbel was good but not rentable yet. I've heard It's Winter (Iranian, just out on DVD) is good.

fridascruffs · 18/12/2006 17:35

oops. Drake, not Duckworth. sorry.

fab....we saw hidden. very interesting/intense/french. Think we need a mix of the heavy and silly. We can only manage subtitles if sober

in the past 2 or 3 months on dvd

The one about Ray Charles (Ray I think it's called)
Agree with Walk the Line
Hotel Rwanda (cried for an hour afterwards so maybe not v cheerful)

alibauble · 18/12/2006 18:24

Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Behind Enemy Lines - watched it last night brilliant - Bosnia during the war
The Runaway Jury - grisham story
Over the Hedge
Jewel in the Crown - dvd of TV series
Another vote for Walk the Line - fantastic film
Memoirs of a Geisha also beautiful to watch
Kundun - about the Dalai Lama

And if you like 24, and haven't watched it on TV get the dvd's up to series 5 and watch the lot. I find it addictive.

Chronicles of Narnia
Da Vinci Code are all recent ones to DVD too.
