Are there any decent lighthearted TV shows on Netflix or Amazon?

We've started watching both Jessica Jones and Daredevil but they're both a bit dark for my usual mood.

We've just about finished Arrested Development so need a replacement. I'm not usually that interested in Comedies, but Comedy-Drama (like Grey's or The West Wing) is the best.

I've just started watching Master of None which is good - its a comedy but clever.

Have you seen The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt or Grace and Frankie? What about Orange is the New Black?

I've got Warehouse 13 on my list, it was recommended to me so I've no idea if I will like it. How about White Collar or Suits?

OKfineheresmyname · 30/12/2015 15:34

I was going to suggest Kimmy Schmidt. Very cute.

redtinsel · 30/12/2015 20:37

Out and out comedy but if you grew up in the 80s The Goldbergs is hilarious.

Redtinsel · 30/12/2015 20:40

Sorry for the small hijack, would you say Arrested Development is suitable for a12 year old? I like the look of it, but not sure if they would get it.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/12/2015 21:39

Thanks for the recommendations. Lots to check out.

We're waiting for the next season of Suits (Harvey Specter/re is my everything), got tired of White Collar (I stuck it out longer than DH), and I'm watching Warehouse 13 by myself. I really like it, btw, tripbot. I think it took a bit to get going but it's fun.

Also watching Once Upon A Time and Friday Night Lights myself, btw.

Redtinsel My initial thought is that AD might be a little beyond a 12 year old, although it obviously depends on the child. But on reflection I'm not sure why I think that. It just feels like an adult programme to me. You could try the first episode? It's not particularly bawdy. It might just be that it needs a little knowledge of the "grown up" world to succeed? A bit of the weariness of life, perhaps.

Grace and Frankie

ZenNudist · 31/12/2015 01:53

I'm rewatching all of How I Met Your Mother on netflix.

Tis good.

Cheesymonster · 31/12/2015 20:15

Parks and Recreation?

theconstantvacuumer · 31/12/2015 20:22

I love White Collar. It's a crime show with lots of humour and the exceedingly easy on the eye Matt Bomer Grin

theconstantvacuumer · 31/12/2015 20:23

Sorry, just saw yr post about White Collar.

Yseulte · 01/01/2016 21:27

Not comedy but good entertainment - Black Sails, Nashville..

I really enjoy Grace and Frankie.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 01/01/2016 21:29

Brooklyn 99?

Yseulte · 01/01/2016 21:30

Oh just saw you're watching with a 12 year old - both my suggestions have sex in them.

And Grace and Frankie will just seem like a show about old folks.

Yseulte · 01/01/2016 21:31

Oh no you're not. I can't read tonight Grin

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 01/01/2016 21:32

I can't read either! Just seen you don't want comedies so scrap mine.

CremeDeSudo · 01/01/2016 21:33

Catastrophe on Amazon?

GrouchyKiwi · 01/01/2016 21:46

Ooh, Nashville. Which platform is that on? I love Connie Britton.

Thanks for the other recommendations. Smile

You might like Community if you liked AD.

I'm working through Californication at the moment. It's mostly drama but quite lighthearted. Plus David Duchovny, drooool.

TheOddity · 01/01/2016 21:55

Modern Family on Netflix is great when you are just doing the ironing or whatever, really watchable and light comedy. I lived Vikings on Amazon Prime. Best series in a long time!

tribpot · 02/01/2016 08:29

Nashville is on Amazon. If you love Connie Britton (and who wouldn't) you will love it.

CremeDeSudo · 02/01/2016 10:54

Love Nashville!

Yseulte · 02/01/2016 22:28

How does Vikings compare to the Last Kingdom?
