Updated version in now :)

OP posts:
DiscoDancer · 29/12/2015 21:21

Just turned over, not sure I want to watch it, I get disturbed quite easily....

fresta · 29/12/2015 21:29

I'm watching, I loved the books as a teenager!

thewookieswife · 29/12/2015 21:58

I'm watching now - missed the first 25mins though ! Read all the books years ago !

VinylScratch · 29/12/2015 22:00

I'm watching too, it's good so far.

DiscoDancer · 29/12/2015 22:03

Acting is pretty awful though Hmm

Firedemon · 29/12/2015 22:04

What channel please?

SinisterBumFacedCat · 29/12/2015 22:06

Seen it before on Sky. Deliciously trashy!

DiscoDancer · 29/12/2015 22:08

I know, can't seem to stop watching even though I'm cringing!

fresta · 29/12/2015 23:06

Apparently they are doing the whole series, Petals on the wind comes out soon!

fresta · 29/12/2015 23:08

I remember there being a lot more emphasis on the poisoning in the book, and the children becoming sicker and sicker!

VinylScratch · 29/12/2015 23:11

What was the electric fence all about, I don't remember that in the books. That groundsman didn't seem very surprised to hear they were Corinne's children either.

MissBattleaxe · 02/01/2016 19:00

I thought it was terrible, but Heather Graham was about the only good casting. The books were great but I have yet to see a really good film or TV version.

I saw Petals on The Wind and I barely recognised it. It seems to be very loosely based on the books with entire characters missing and some completely new ones invented.

FairyDustDreamer · 03/01/2016 09:29

Oh, thought 1980s version so didn't watch it as watched it first time round at cinema. It was a crap film and my boyfriend of time looked at me aghast as I had bigged it up having enjoyed the book.
So less cringe making in this version?
What channel was it?

MissBattleaxe · 03/01/2016 10:35

I can't remember the channel. I saved it to my shows so would have to look it up. Agree that the 1980s version was terrible. That's the one with Victoria Tennant isn't it? Awful.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 03/01/2016 10:37

Channel 5

FairyDustDreamer · 03/01/2016 10:38

Channel 5, thank you.
May have to watch it!

iwantgin · 04/01/2016 20:27

Ah i missed this.

I vaguely remember reading the books as a teenager.

Will search it out.

notquitehuman · 11/01/2016 21:01

This movie was truer to the book than the terrible 80s version. I feel they've tried to take the source material too seriously though. Virginia Andrews writes campy novels, the movies shouldn't take themselves so seriously.
