I like New Wave music and I like spies. I'm in.

Namechanger2015 · 20/12/2015 22:49

Thanks for the heads up on Deutschland 83. It is of a similar style/genre to homeland? I'll miss my Sunday night viewing.

RudeElf · 20/12/2015 22:55

Ok its officially ridiculous now. The producers are sitting at their laptops pissing themselves laughing at the number they've done on us the audience.

The only thing that could redeem it now for me is if quinn rips off his skin and is really brodie. Otherwise they just neednt bother with any more seasons. Theyve well and truly fucked it.

Hassled · 20/12/2015 23:00

Oh I can't agree - yes, there are some plot holes and it's not the Homeland that the first couple of seasons was, but it's still damn good, tense, well-written TV with characters I care about.

RudeElf · 20/12/2015 23:11

Well written?? Confused its like they asked the intern to write it while they all had a smoke break and just OKed it without reading.

bearleftmonkeyright · 20/12/2015 23:17

Thanks Hassled, I must have missed that.

Roonerspism · 20/12/2015 23:23

Absolutely full of holes. But I love Homeland - I want to like it - so I don't care. It's still brilliantly written.

Carries will, single handed, save the day I am sure. Lots of people will escape through gate left open by good terrorist. She will collapse into recovered Quinn's open arms.

Saul is utterly shite. Some other prisoner he was questioning years ago killed herself with a bottle.

Cocolepew · 20/12/2015 23:35

I still love it.

rosebiggs · 21/12/2015 00:17

When will Saul realise that Carrie is ALWAYS right. I'm

Lweji · 21/12/2015 07:15

Yes.

Look, Saul, I'm where the terrorists lived and it's full of stuff about the train station.
Oh, no, the double agent who wanted you killed and is the only survivor of a shootout says it's the airport, so that must be right.

Unbelievably stupid.

GypsyFl0ss · 21/12/2015 07:30

I like that Carrie never doubted herself and trotted off to single handledly to find tiny Qasim.
Then just so serendipitously saw him on the opposite escalator, recognised him without his beard and then after a moment or two of hassle found some mug who actually sent her text to Saul rather than just fucked off with the phone.

Is she ever going to get that phone back? Has it got all her special CIA contacts on it?

Lweji · 21/12/2015 07:37

I'm sure all her CIA contacts are in code.

Ach really? Allison with her phone & a gun & a dopey agent?

Saul leaving the poor Mar- man alone so he throws himself out of the window. And since when (1945) are the Germans worse than the Americans?

Saul leaving Allison alone, not even standing outside the room so she escapes.

Allison's shooting frenzy - OK the Germans should have photoed all that, the blood splatter wouldn't have made sense. Astrid should have clocked that.

Because no one should be trusting Allison. Yet she gets in on a special high- level meeting.

And Carrie. The only wobbly-chinned one who says "The station is a possible target" - so let's believe the suspected double agent instead and off Carrie runs alone into a tunnel. Having given her phone to a random stranger & not bothered telling all the people on the platform, "Run for your lives."

Hmm
Fiderer · 21/12/2015 08:49

Plus there is no way anyone travelling on the underground/trains here would ever accept anyone just closing gates if they weren't in uniform and even then they'd be shouting loudly about it.

Lweji · 21/12/2015 08:51

But that is Germany.

Fiderer · 21/12/2015 08:53

No, you should see what happens when a train is delayed here. No way would they be as passive if gates were just shut like that.

Lweji · 21/12/2015 08:54

Allison was not supposed to carry a gun, was she?
Because if she didn't, then the bodyguard wouldn't have given her his gun, surely. Because that would be stupid and he was such a sharp fellow.
And if she didn't, how does the explanation that Doctor Poison grabbed the agent's gun work out?

Fiderer · 21/12/2015 09:02

She had a gun (and a phone Hmm ) and that was what Saul realised - how did a seasoned CIA agent have his gun taken from him by Aziz. And as she had no plausible answer, she fled.

enderwoman · 21/12/2015 09:35

In American films, they frequently point out how it's an offence to pose as a police officer yet in yesterday's episode, "I'm a federal officer" was said multiple times. Carrie should have at least asked members of the public for phone help in German since a police officer would surely speak German before trying English. considering the scandal at the start of the series about DMV giving the CIA information, you'd think that the two parties wouldn't be working together so publicly.
Having lived in Germany I can say that most people would react like the UK and get out their camera phones or leg it when they saw someone with a gun. And I really think Carrie would have told people to leave the station.

Laughable how commuters accepted a random locking the gates. couldn't believe the terrorists not wearing high viz or leaving some sort of official looking sign "Gate closed. Please use alternative exit" just in case they got a hard time from members of the public.

Why did Carrie only text Saul? Considering how much Astrid helped you'd think she'd also get the text about the station being the target.

enderwoman · 21/12/2015 09:44

And why would Hair call Astrid rather than Saul or Dar considering that she's a CIA employee who's trying to get into their good books and is with a CIA bodyguard who's been killed? We know Hair speaks German so could have called for an ambulance herself.

enderwoman · 21/12/2015 09:46

Anyone else laugh when she tipped her handbag on its side before shooting herself? There is a strange obsession with her handbag Grin

Mrsbadger77 · 21/12/2015 09:53

I absolutely love homeland but this season I'm getting so angry at the inconsistencies with regard to language. Surely the terrorists would all be speaking Arabic to each other and why do the German's speak English to each other? Makes no sense and just annoys me.

enderwoman · 21/12/2015 10:01

I agree MrsBadger - surely Arabic would be more logical as they are less likely to be overheard by a member of the public and if they are shunning Western ways that would include Western languages.

enderwoman · 21/12/2015 10:10

Another inconsistency - Hair called Astrid and left her phone on so she could be located. She then shot herself which Astrid would have heard over the phone. The last shot being after Hair called Astrid would surely raise questions?

Also Carrie knows the terrorists have chemical weapons like Sarin. Surely the hospital or Saul could have given her a gas mask?

Missanneshirley · 21/12/2015 19:46

Did the tipped on its side handbag still have a bug in it? !!
