Can you tell me how please

Right, Saul tried to strike a deal with the Syrian major about taking over from Assad to stabilise the gov & fight IS. The plane was blown up by the Russians. Quinn is accompanying the IS cell to Syria, one of whom's uncle is a key CIA target & high-ranking in the IS and / or Syrian official (something to do with money).

I think Quinn will work out there is money coming in from the Russians, and will have to report back to Dar when he's killed his target as he will have to have an exit plan. Once the Russian link is there then this is where I think the penny will drop with Dar, he'll regret ousting Saul and start to believe what Saul said.

I admit it's all very tenuous though I don'thave a fucking clue what's going on

Shirkingfromhome · 23/11/2015 22:42

Strike out fail Blush

So, 25 hours later, and the Quinn storyline is pissing me off. It's really jumped the shark now.

He sneaks around Europe doing secret-y things for Saul, but is intercepted by Hair. They pretend that Carrie is dead, and an Ivan is deaded for real. So, more Ivans know about it, as well as the post office attendant and poor, dead? Dave. No one investigates, or maybe notices, the dead Ivan. Then Quinn gets sick, and seeks bin, but before he makes it, he's rescued by heroic but mysterious Creeping Jesus, who turns out to be a nice Syrian doc in a house of bad Syrian Jihadists. He wees darkly in a bottle, shuffles about, then slits a jihadist's throat. The others (including nice one?) don't actually seem too bothered, but they vaguely threaten him with his brother, then ask him to take them to Syria. Cos he knows the way. Quinn says -sure! Then they mention a wanted uncle. Quinn mentions it to Dar (how do they know the other is there? Does Dar not ask what the fuck he's been up to, is he related to Carrie's death, the dead Ivan, oh by the way, Saul has gone rogue...). And Dar says -sure!

It's not really that plausible, is it?

It's become a bit like Downton in that you can accept it's tosh and enjoy the frocks. Except in this case the snacks.

Max & Virgil in the Scooby Van with Scooby snacks.
Saul Snacks

And now, Dar Snacks. He bought a sandwich for Quinn, even before he knew Quinn had top intel for him. Most unlike Dar, obv trying to win Quinn over from Saul.

Quite a way from the compulsive 1st series.

HoomanBean · 24/11/2015 06:47

This season is quite slow IMO. I found this episode pretty boring.

Quins timeline and Carries timeline do not match. Carries been in hiding/cooped with During for about a week maximum? And Quins on the other hand seemed to have recovered from a gun shot wound miraculously and even found time to throw a few punches, take a few and do an evil yet cool thing to terrorists neck in that much time.

The fact that Saul had to even ask Hair if she was wearing a wire shows that she's untrustworthy. Why would he tell her about Carrie unless it was a ruse? If it turns out to be otherwise I'd be incredulous that Saul could be so daft.

Hairs reaction to Carrie being alive was a bloody overreaction. Even I'd take it better than that and I'm not even CIA top brass/double agent/Russian spy what not.

when I'm not daydreaming

TheOldestCat · 24/11/2015 06:54

Just watched - through my fingers once the cabbie chap said he was happy and life was going great.Sad

Oh those Russians.....

I don't trust Otto one little bit. And am just hoping Carrie has worked out Hair is a baddy.

GypsyFl0ss · 24/11/2015 08:28

I thought Hair's reaction was fairly plausible. Whatever way it goes Carrie being alive means that Hair stands a good chance of ending up dead. Either by an Ivan or by the U.S. for treason or by her own hand. All her chickens are coming home to roost.

SurlyCue · 24/11/2015 09:11

I didnt buy Hair's reaction either. No1 Ivan said she had been playing these guys (CIA) for years, which would have to be true for her to get beside the head of the CIA on a daily basis. So she'll have done a shitload of risky stuff to get there and keep the Ivans happy. She is getting on like this is the first time she's mitched school.

TheSpottedZebra · 24/11/2015 09:19

Maybe Hair is playing us too with that reaction?
The devious, swooshy bitch.

So, to her motivation - is it just power/ego and a bit of money?

Shirkingfromhome · 24/11/2015 10:10

I believed Hairs' reaction, she did say to Ivan "I don't like getting caught" and she has been. She knew she needed to bed Saul to get him out of Carrie's grasp and she knows she has failed.

I think she'll top herself.

Redskyatnight01 · 24/11/2015 11:52

God, watched Sunday’s episode last night.

REALLY, could Saul be that stupid re hair?! Even if he doesn’t link her to the Russians, she is CIA and at the moment the CIA are trying to screw him over so why would he trust her with any info? (Shagging her doesn’t mean he can trust her!)

And Carrie re Hair, really?! Again, I thought she recognised her voice on the end of the phone that time, but it could just have been she recognised the voice as Russian I guess. But again, would she really be that stupid to inform a member of the CIA that she’s alive?!

I don’t trust her boss (whatever his name is) I did, but after he said she was unstable…hmmm!!

Again, how many episodes left do we know?!

ILikeToClean · 24/11/2015 22:13

Agree with everything you say Redsky, surely Saul and Carrie are playing Hair, but one other thing - is Carrie not the slightest bit bothered about what has happened to Quinn?! The last she knew he'd given Jones the slip and was seriously ill - but not a second thought about him now - talk about self involved Grin

UnGoogleable · 24/11/2015 22:22

is Carrie not the slightest bit bothered about what has happened to Quinn?

I wondered that - surely she would have gone to try and look for him. I think she's supposed to believe he's dead, but wouldn't she try to find his poor body? (she could have started by looking in the bins)...

Howaboutthisone · 25/11/2015 06:54

Just caught up. Red sky I
totally agree. I keep thinking the whole thing must be a big play like when Saul had Carrie commited. But then can it really be?!
I'm also not convinced by this earth angel you've taken into your hearts! I still feel that there's more to him. I definitely don't trust During but am undecided about whether he's in cahoots with hair or even 'earth angel' . Could that conversation have been code for - we don't need Carrie now that we've set this in motion. I also still think that During got her in the right place for the first attempt on her life.
Dar's proud dad face on hearing about Quinn's bit of luck did make me laugh. It also seems weird that Quinn is wanting to kill himself and hide the body to protect Carrie, then he buggers off to Syria without giving a second thought to what's happened to her now. Or is this his way of keeping her safe by staying away from her. He definitely has a better poker face than Hair anyway!

Fiderer · 25/11/2015 08:26

Good point about Quinn. No one must find out that Carrie's alive so I'll bleed through the streets and kill myself.

He should be CIA Black Ops savvy enough to know she'll be found anyway, esp given her general shiteness at being undercover and her bad wigs. Plus all the fuss made by the Germans at finding a dead CIA agent if he had killed himself. The authorities here are a bugger about bins.

EmNetta · 25/11/2015 13:33

So many mysteries here, but I feel sure that Quinn finally gave up on Carrie as romantic interest when he found out she'd persuaded her current partner to keep an eye on him. She was his last hope for help, which is why he left, I'm sure, and probably why he agreed to go to Syria after all.

GypsyFl0ss · 25/11/2015 17:21

The authorities here are a bugger about bins. Grin

Lweji · 25/11/2015 20:52

But Quinn wasn't going to a hospital to protect Carrie, right?

So, with her gone and safe, she could expect him to seek proper help, which is why she wasn't too worried? Maybe?

EmNetta · 25/11/2015 23:34

I think it would have been unsafe for Quinn to go to a hospital with a gunshot wound, as police as well as "other spies" would have wanted more info, and didn't Saul warn him he'd be alone should he need help? Can't help feeling that Carrie's interest in Quinn is just as a colleague these days, and that she moved on when she moved in with Ginger II.

EmNetta · 25/11/2015 23:36

But I hope I'm wrong.

SiegeofEnnis · 26/11/2015 06:33

But wouldn't it show up on the CIA computer system that Hair accessed and downloaded a new copy of the secret documents at her own PC, and put them on a USB for Dar, five seconds before they meet, pretending Saul didn't leave the building with them? I mean, isn't that the first thing Dar would check?

And why is every meeting between Hair and Ivan shot to make it look like a date, all soft focus and smoochy body language?

And have Quinn and Carrie taken a memory drug to make them forget entirely about one another?

Also, was wondering what the significance of Quinn making one jihadi stay behind was - is that guy going to go ahead and bomb Berlin solo because he's pissed off? Provide crucial information to someone about where Quinn and the others have gone?

Also, is Carrie mad? The last redhead she took to that cabin got horribly killed!

Oh, and I got terribly distracted in the Amsterdam scenes by the elderly extra in the bright orange/ tan trousers, loose shirt and huge belly who was walking by in the background of at least three different scenes!

munchkinmaster · 26/11/2015 06:50

I liked Carrie breaking in to that house. She smashed the window, put her hand through and turned the handle. Didn't touch the key in the lock. Ehm, why didn't she just turn the handle on her side of the door.

I think during is right to sack her. She is a terrible head of security, nearly gets him killed, doesn't turn up for weeks to work then hangs round his house all day doing her own stuff.

SiegeofEnnis · 26/11/2015 06:56

I'm always a bit incredulous that a bigwig travelling philanthropist with enemies would hire Carrie as his head of security - wouldn't her CIA reference say that she's a bipolar rogue agent who's intermittently brilliant but usually off grid, with a record of insubordination/ sexual relationships with turned US marines, and major screw ups abroad?

TheSpottedZebra · 26/11/2015 09:01

And why is every meeting between Hair and Ivan shot to make it look like a date, all soft focus and smoochy body language?

They're not shooting it like that on purpose, it's just that Hair is a minx.
But you're right about the USA, which just makes me think even, more so that it's a play, that Dar knows, is in on it with Saul and that they're just trying to reel Hair in. Hopefully.
