See I think Citizen Khan is lazy culturally stereotyping. Totally not funny and racist to boot.

DD2(16) reckons that it is ironic racist stereotyping and the whole thing is tongue in cheek, and therein lies the humour.

So fellow Mumsnetters, is my sense of humour totally unsophisticated or is it just borderline racist crap?

Yes, that's absolutely what UNESCO should do.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 07/11/2015 16:37

maybe what is deemed as old fashioned humour is more in line with different cultural humours

have you seen any bollywood films surely you have seen clips over the top acting and drama is what is made because that is what the audience wants

SapientPearwood · 07/11/2015 16:46

Yes it's about as funny as Mrs Brown's boys and My Family. I don't see that it's racist, just shit.

MrsJayy · 07/11/2015 19:55

It is meant to be sterotypical i think thats the joke but its not funny imo not because its sterotypical but its just not funny that slurping and hacking noise gets on my wick. Mr khan reminds me of the indian man in mind your language though

MrsJayy · 07/11/2015 19:57

I saw Mrs Browns boys live years ago before it was on tv it was hilarious I know loads of folk hate it but i really Lol at it

LittleMamaJama · 07/11/2015 20:53

It's not racist, it just lacks content-

Who among you has watched Javene Prince? What did you think of it?

SoupDragon · 07/11/2015 21:13

White man gets Asian man to use a 'lollipop'. So wrong on so many levels. It was cringeworthy.

Why is that particularly wrong?

I do find Citizen Khan uncomfortable to watch although I assumed it was the writer poking fun at his own cultural background.
