One question though - was it just me and DH or was the music far too loud and the mics far too quiet? I couldn't actually hear the contestants (not a completely bad thing)

You can always tell when the production team think an act isn't going to be great, Pointy- there are usually loads of dancers, lots of stuff going on to distract the viewer- and the singer's voice is very low in the mix.

I would love to hear it how the audience hear it- I bet it all sounds different 'live'.
