Have just watched this and am quite surprised there is not already a thread about it, particularly given the amount of emotive threads that have been running over the past few weeks on the immigration crisis.

This programme certainly put much into context for me, seeing a real family facing real issues arising from a truly dire situation.

It was beautifully crafted. searingly, brutally honest. A tale of relationships, of family and of conviction.

What truly shone was that in the chaos that was their lives, they managed to raise such amazing children

Yes, fantastic film and compelling to watch, from a human and from a political perspective. The children were amazing too.

I did start a thread about it but I don't think anyone watched it really.

Kampeki · 30/09/2015 00:41

I haven't seen it, and hadn't heard about bit tbh. Have watched other "Storyville" documentaries and found them very interesting. Will look for it on iplayer.

It was very good.

The saddest thing really is that, although this family experienced imprisonment, brutality, a marital breakup, and had to flee the country and move house 4 times for safety, they are some of the luckiest ones :(

I thought it was astonishing.

Bumping this as I've just watched it and it's still available on iplayer- it's really fascinating and moving, really shows what the upheaval of fleeing a country can do to a family.
