Oh dear, that was awful with Carpenter man. She looked so hopeful and he was so unwittingly cruel.

Wtf happened with the girl that walked out? Daughter came in talking just as it was happening (bloody kids )

He basically said he didn't find her attractive (but she was gorgeous) and then tried to sugar coat the disappointment by going on and on AND ON about all the good things about the date, so she walked out.

I don't blame her. Who wants to be told they're great in every single respect, but hey, I find you really unattractive, so I won't even contemplate a second date? Which is why Jo mentioned hoping to find a man who was interested in more than just sex.

By the way, the brackets was me. I thought Jo was really gorgeous, and couldn't understand why Gus didn't think so. She dodged a bullet!

It really looked as though Jo's date had gone well so she must have been mortified when he said he didn't find her attractive. What a plonker to be so blunt and not realise it would upset her.

I felt really sorry for Paulo, he is so cute and sorted out and actually I thought the heels were a really good look with jeans and jumper. His date's reaction was way over the top - 'not normal'??

i've been catching up this morning. The posh bloke (Joel from Durham Uni) people were talking about upthread is DD's ex boyfriend!!

He wasn't god enough for Jo.

I bought Bella's "posh girl gone wild" schtick was really try hard. I mean, fetish wear on a first date? And her make up was absolutely horrendous.

I have a feeling that now First Dates is so popular, a lot of the people featured will be massive attention whores who aren't actually interested in finding a partner.

I didn't really take to Bella. It was obvious where THAT date was going to go. Which is fine but I was under the impression that first dates was people looking for love rather than a quick knee trembler.

I feel sorry for Bella - talking about how she had no friends at school so decided to reinvent herself.

I don't want to be friends with her though.

I don't know precisely what she wants, but I don't think that this reinvention will get it for her.

If we are permitted to speculate wildly (which of course we are!) I worry that her need for attention and low self-esteem will get her stuck with a manipulative and possessive man who gradually wears her down and makes her miserable.

Jo seems lovely. I would want to be her friend.

I've caught up. Bella was hard to keep up with. The blusher! the outfit! the twanging! the greasy seat afterwards! it all felt very awkward.
