Hunted tv show - where would you go?

I'm looking forward to this on Thursday.

It got me thinking if someone was hunting me who had access to stuff like my credit card activity where would I go?

I reckon first thing is ditch the mobile so you can't be tracked. Take a load of money out the cashpoint (not sure if this is allowed). Then head for The Lakes and live in a little cave halfway up a mountain.

However if you're not allowed to stash cash im not sure how Id manage. I bet sheep are hard to catch and kill.

Without knowing the rules it's hard to say exactly, I'm not sure if it might be better to stay in a town as then you would have access to things like food, heating if needed, clothes again if needed etc. Though CCTV would then be an issue, if they could use it to follow you? And where could you go that wasn't home? Hide in a church maybe?

Very interesting question!

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 08/09/2015 22:12

I think I'd cross the channel, or go to Ireland. Or a Scottish island.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 08/09/2015 22:12

Yes I suppose hiding in a crowd is a possibility. You can try and blend in and avoid the cctv. But apart from begging how can you eat?

In the country you'd have more chance of foraging for food in the summer.

I love thinking about stuff like this. Obvs I'd change my appearance as much as possible (hair etc.) but they've got facial recognition software haven't they? Maybe I'd get a prosthetic nose and wear baggy clothes so harder to tell if I was a man or woman on CCTV.

firefly78 · 08/09/2015 22:23

sounds like a terrifying programme!

anythingicando · 08/09/2015 22:24

It's gross but bins maybe? Or if you hid in a church you could make friends with the vicar and they could bring supplies! And maybe find you a cellar or something to hide in Grin

Gunpowder · 08/09/2015 22:24

It's hard because I'd naturally want to go to places I knew, get help from people I know, etc. but those are exactly the places they'd hunt for you in!

Gunpowder · 08/09/2015 22:32

Yeh I think skip surfing would be a good way to get food. Maybe get a job cleaning in an independent restaurant and they would feed you and pay cash in hand.

mummytime · 08/09/2015 23:14

Going to the wilds is usually a mistake, as the more remote the area, the more obvious anyone "new" is. I remember some couple ran away to a very remote part of scotland - and I wasn't surprised at how fast they were found. Cities are much better, if you can avoid the CCTV.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 10/09/2015 21:24

The two women on it are thinking remote, Lakes or Scotland. But one is worried they'll stick out like a sore thumb.

Wow, the two taking buses were caught quickly.

I really think you've got to walk, cycle or hitch hike.

Oooh I wanted to watch this. What channel is it on please (not near a tv hoping I will be able to catch up tomorrow)

Shenanagins · 10/09/2015 21:36

Think one of the women forgot that she was ona tv programme!

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 10/09/2015 21:39

Channel 4

Yes, that woman was not happy!

Is this going to be like that show "Wanted" with Johnny Littledick?

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 10/09/2015 21:54

IDon't remember Wanted but have googled it and it does seem similar but no phone boxes.

I'd go to a student town but one not covered by CCTV everywhere. Does that even exist?

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 12/09/2015 18:27

I was thinking about this some more.

When the two women were running down the road they were both in shot. So there's obviusly a camera person with them. In fact as they got into the car there was a reflection in the window of someone with a large camera on their shoulder.....so they're not filming on tiny handheld things.

So going to a town, maybe in disguise, and trying to hide in crowds of people isn't going to work. You're going to stick out like a sore thumb with a camera person behind you.

HarlettOScara · 13/09/2015 08:27

It explained at the beginning that they'd each be travelling with a camera operator who would go everywhere with them.

BeyondYourPeripheralVision · 13/09/2015 08:39

Easy enough to hide in the hills if you don't keep running into town every ten minutes wanting a bacon butty.

I'm quite "Ray mears", but I think I'd be better hiding in "plain sight". The hunters would know I can go off grid quite easily... But would they go looking at a cabbage farm in Lincolnshire where someone's just rolled up and kept their head down for a few weeks?

Snoozebox · 13/09/2015 11:54

Maybe the investigators aren't allowed to ask people if they've seen the targets with a camera operator...because they'd obviously not have that with them in a real-life scenario and not be so conspicuous.

ButterfliesnWaterfalls · 13/09/2015 14:17

I loved this show!

Here is what I would do:

Firstly burn everything like laptop, kindle, phone, ipod, anything that would give info about me.

I don't have an online presence apart random posts on here.

Normally I wear the hijaab and loose clothing, but for the sake of my safety I would change my attire. Colour my hair, and wear Sketchers trainers which are comfortable to walk in lol

I would travel really light, so wear lots of layers, maybe a good sports bra, and three panties on top of each other. So wash when needed.

Would keep my cash in bra lol so wouldn't need to carry much in my bag. I would have a map, tissue, gum, waterbottle.

I would maybe steal a car? Or take my brother's? Then drive somewhere far and abandon it. Would definitely go up North. Would never stay in the same location for more than a day or two. Would probably try to get grub from soup kitchens or raw fruit/veg.

Oh and definitely go NC with everyone!

Would also try going NI via boat.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 13/09/2015 18:28

In reality the best bet is to get across town without being spotted (getting cash out on way) and go to ground at an acquaintances house.

The more places you go, the more chances you've got of being spotted.

They wouldn't be able to search where you are without some kind of proof for a warrant.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 13/09/2015 18:55

Snooze it's a very good point.
There's always going to be a problem with having a camera person with you even when they can't ask that question.

If I'm walking along and see a mid height, medium brown haired woman she's not really going to register on my radar. If she has a camera person with her I'm going to think oh I wonder why they're filming her, will look at her more closely and am more likely to remember her. So if they then ask me if I have seen someone of her description the answer will be yes.
