I'm looking forward to this.

Based on the life of Lenny Henry, from one who remembers his appearance on New Faces and being surprised when he turned around and was black! I find that totally amazing now and embarrassing to admit.

I'm watching it's really good so far. Also the Jamaican family bit with the dad getting him up for work is spot on. Grin

I love lenny Henry.

They've got the fashions and hair spot on.

Is this true about his dad?

I thought it was really good. I found it sad - the conversations that Lenny Henry imagined having with his father. It must have been very cathartic for him.

I liked it to. I'd have liked there to be another episode.

I was cringing watching the Black and White Minstrels, it's hard to believe we tolerated and watched that and on prime time TV! The club compere was worse. Thank God we moved on but it's shocking that we didn't see what we were doing and appear care or even consider how the people felt.

I really liked it! My Grandparents came over in the 1960s and they were watching it with us. When there was the scene where the Mum was explaining about Calvin being his bio Dad my Grandmother said "why she explaining to a child? He should mind his own business!". I think it was quite common back then probably because a lot of men/women came here alone. Not that anyone would talk about it mind you!

Black and white minstrels are bizarre but the hands being lighter joke I've heard before in a supermarket where I had a Saturday job as a teen- my boss said it!

I really enjoyed it. I clearly remember him on New Faces. My mum and dad thoroughly condemned the B&W Minstrel Show, it was utterly disapproved of and none of us would have considered watching it, even with only three channels! I remember a neighbour had a black dog called Nignog and I'm proud to say we didn't know what it meant
