I loved last night's episode. But I think it's a long time since it's been consistently that good, so I think it's probably time to call it a day.

turningvioletviolet · 05/08/2015 18:58

Last night's episode was the best in a long time; especially since most of the originals left. Can't wait until next week. And I do like a bit of Larry Lamb so looking forward to his arrival.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/08/2015 19:00

I love it, but I think it's probably run its course.

IndridCold · 05/08/2015 19:09

I think that the original cast had come to a natural end, but some of the new characters still have life in them I think.

I really enjoyed yesterday's episode and I love Nicholas Lyndhurst's character in particular.

I fear that Gerry may come to a sticky end. Very good acting in this week's episode.

Oblique27 · 07/08/2015 23:38

Nearly didn't bother, but it was a much more interesting plot. Looking forward to next week but the acting still has a laboured feel sometimes....not sure why, you can see them "act" IYSWIM

I've always really enjoyed New Tricks. I thought this week's episode was good, though the villains seemed a bit too comic-book (though they often do).

I also really like the new cast. Nicholas Lyndhurst's character brings something new to the mix - though in an interview in the Radio Times, Dennis Waterman says he doesn't like the character at all.

SymphonyofShadows · 14/08/2015 08:02

I really enjoyed this week's episode, loved what they did with Gerry.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 14/08/2015 08:14

I liked the last two episodes but they were very weird...

Gerry now only has one Daughter and one wife, what happened to his other daughters and his grandson, and it was set in the 80's not the 70's?

I personally think it was written for Nicholas Lyndhurst's character, then changed to give Waterman a good send off.

I thought that second episode was great, though I'm not sure how Gerry managed to fake his own death in that car. It seemed unlikely.

I also liked the fact that the guy who played Gerry as a young man looked nothing like him. We all know what Denis Waterman looked like in the 80s, and it was basically the same as he looks now, but younger.

Icimoi · 14/08/2015 18:03

I would have thought the new characters could potentially put a lot of new life into the series, and they have taken the trouble to give them an interesting background. But I did think they should have brought Alun Armstrong and Amanda Redman back for the "funeral", it seems pretty unlikely that they'd have stayed away.
