I see this starts tonight on Sky Atlantic (repeats). Is it worth watching, Damien Lewis is in it, so I've set it to record. I like things like GoT, and Breaking Bad

I loved it, lost the boxset many years ago so very excited to hear it's on tv!

hazeyjane · 21/07/2015 19:14

I absolutely loved it, but I am a big fan of war films!

hazeyjane · 21/07/2015 19:14

Yes thanks for the heads up, have the box set, but will watch tonight again!

MegCleary · 21/07/2015 19:14

Very different to those but stunning, brilliant series. Last time I saw my DH cry was at the end of this series.

SurlyCue · 21/07/2015 19:15

Am i right in thinking Tom Hardy is in it? If so then yes! Grin wish i had sky Sad

CherryBonBon · 21/07/2015 19:16

It's one of the best TV shows ever made (and as a telly junkie I've seen them all). DP and I have watched it 4 or 5 times.

The acting is superb, obviously the story is hard hitting but it's also funny and sweet due to the camaraderie of the characters.

I'm jealous Envy I wish I could watch it again for the first time!

CherryBonBon · 21/07/2015 19:17

Tom is only in it very briefly.

Simon Pegg is in it too!

Heels99 · 21/07/2015 19:18

Yes! Yes! Yes!

suze28 · 21/07/2015 19:20

DH absolutely loves the whole series. I've watched much of it and it's real quality.
did someone meniton Tom Hardy was in it?? How did I not know this??

MemphisBella · 21/07/2015 19:23

It's amazing. Buy tissues though.

Cheeseandhamtoast · 21/07/2015 19:24

It really is great, and also worth watching for the music - amazing theme tune!

PyjamasLlamas · 21/07/2015 19:25

I've watched it several times (have the box set). Fantastic show. David Swimmer (Ross from Friends) is in it and is a complete arsehole!

DrSeuss · 21/07/2015 19:27

I dislike war films in general but loved this.

RingtheBells · 21/07/2015 19:27

I will definitely watch this then, it looks like 2 episodes tonight ,then 2 on Friday so will record and watch tomorrow as it is on too late for a work night. I'm always a bit late watching these things, after everyone else has seen them ages ago. Smile

SurlyCue · 21/07/2015 20:28

ohidoliketobe · 21/07/2015 20:33

Oh god yes (roots out box set)

Figster · 21/07/2015 20:33

yes yes yes I met Damian Lewis in a pub not long after it had been on he had to put up with a massive fan girl fuelled on 6 pints of Stella swooning all over him.

bloody wonderful series

mrsleomcgary · 22/07/2015 21:12

Such a good series! It's so well done with the men featured in the series talking about their experiences for a minute or two before the episode begins. If I remember correctly you dont find out who each of them are until the end of the episode. That in itself made me cry.

iklboo · 22/07/2015 21:19

Oh yes. It's mine & DH's 'courting' series. He'd come round to mine at the weekend, we'd have a few drinks, some food (chicken satay sticks & filled potato skins for late night snack) and watch it together.

Buglife · 22/07/2015 21:25

Omg yes. I have watched it all the way through about 5 times. It makes me sob and laugh and it's just remarkable. The actual interviews with the real veterans make me tear up. I watch it with my Dad and he cries and I cry too! I'm going to start watching it again during DS naps now you've posted this, got the DVD ages ago!

tictactoad · 22/07/2015 21:46

I rewatched it not so long ago and I'm afraid it left me cold.

I'll get me coat Grin
