Comedies?

I am on the lookout for new (to me) comedies. I can't rewatch dinnerladies again, I already know it off by heart. Blush There don't seem to be many new ones about, it's all thriller-y, drama-y, crime-y stuff (which is not my cuppa).

I could watch things like 30 Rock, Community, The Office US, as I've not seen all of those - would they be on Netflix?

Please and thank you. Grin

Watch Garth Marengais darkplace. Not on Netflix but on 4od I believe.

Community (which is my favourite - username is related) and The US Office are on Netflix. I love both and re-watch often. Also Arrested Development is brilliant and must be watched multiple times.

I also adore Archer but suspect that's maybe a bit polarising...you'll love it or hate it!

Parks and Recreation is not on Netflix but is absolutely worth seeking out, on DVD or other means. It is wonderful Grin

I did try to get into Arrested Development but couldn't. Might have to try again.

I've not heard of 'Darkplace' but the cast looks good (loved IT Crowd).

Have found a 30 Rock boxset of all episodes for £20, so might treat myself to that.

I might need to give P&R another go. I've watched the first few episodes but never get beyond that. Not sure why, I love Amy Poehler.

Thanks, both.

With P&R you need to get past season 1. It is awesome from season 2 on Wink

madmother1 · 05/07/2015 01:07

Friday night dinner....so funny.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 05/07/2015 07:57

Depends what you like and what you haven't seen! 30 Rock is pretty good.
Not really recent but Summer Heights High is brilliant.
The Thick of It.
Black Books.
The IT Crowd.
Green Wing.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 05/07/2015 07:58

Those last 3 will be on 4od.

I love Arrested Development too.

TheTravellingLemon · 05/07/2015 08:05

BrittaTheNeedlesslyDefiant I love Community. It's just hilarious. Did you know that there's a sixth series not on Netflix?

Green Wing
Arrested Development
Entourage
How I met your mother
Cougar Town (really underrated IMO)

musicalendorphins2 · 05/07/2015 08:09

I just discovered a series on Netflix that is great! "Grace and Frankie", starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. I watched all season 1 in nights, funny and touching and the people are very real. Can't wait for season 2.

musicalendorphins2 · 05/07/2015 08:13

*I watched all of season 1 over 2 nights.

Tootssweet · 05/07/2015 08:20

Have you watched The Goldbergs? (running on E4 at the moment) I was surprised by how funny it was & I can watch with dc's which also helps.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 05/07/2015 10:04

Have you been watching Episodes? That is very good. Also for something older try Northern Exposure.

TheTravellingLemon · 05/07/2015 10:07

Has no one mentioned Peep Show yet?

BrittaTheNeedlesslyDefiant · 05/07/2015 18:39

Travelling yes, I watched it as it aired (it was shown on Sony channel in the UK)! Series 1-3 are perfect IMO, 4, 5 and 6 flawed (I sooo miss Troy) but still lots of great bits Smile

KittyB52 · 05/07/2015 22:22

I love love LOVE Green Wing - same with IT Crowd and Black Books. I never got into The Thick of It, or Peep Show (OH loves it) so might give them a go. I liked the first series of Episodes but then wasn't as bothered with the second series.

I picked up on Friday Night Dinner recently, and one of the sons being massively irritating (it's 'Outnumbered' all over again), I enjoyed it.

Have made a list of the other recs to try - thank you.
