I need to know what she put in the washing machine to clean it out... I saw her put the pint of white vinegar in the drum but when she put stuff in the drawer dd started being noisy and didn't hear what it was! Ta!

no - i thought the punchline was going to be 'it was me'

when you find out will you tell me?

expatinscotland · 16/11/2006 09:59

She first put a cup of washing soda crystals in the soap drawer and ran a cycle on the highest temp setting - longest cycle, too.

No clothes, of course.

She then put a pint of white vinegar directly into the drum and ran another cycle on the highest temp setting.

Such a good hint, I wrote it in the journal I write for my daughters.

munz · 16/11/2006 10:05

how did they combat the smell of the vingear, or does the crystals do that?

expatinscotland · 16/11/2006 10:06

There's no leftover vinegar smell, munz. The rinse cycle takes it out.

munz · 16/11/2006 10:07

ooh thanks will try that then

zephyrcat · 16/11/2006 10:09

Thank you!! Have to go and do this today - aparently it cleans all the crap out of the pipes. My washer dryer is so knackered that when it went onto dry yesterday the clothes came out wetter than they started!!

Blimey... a whole hot extended wash x 2. Not sure I could bear the thought of all that electricity being used. But, on the other hand, I suppose I could offset the cost against the machine living longer.

FIMBO · 16/11/2006 11:46

I only saw it towards the end - but heard the bit about the woman leaving her dirty knickers around the place and that there was candida in the flat because of it. Mega Yuk!

expatinscotland · 16/11/2006 11:56

She was clarty, Fim.

Quootiepie · 16/11/2006 12:01

ooooh, great! Thing is - sorry to be dim, what are washing soda crystals?

NAB3 · 16/11/2006 12:01

I have just put the soda crystals in my machine so we will see what happens. Considering I wash nappies 2-3 times a week is probably could do with a good wash through.
