The Wonder Years - anyone remember it?

I've heard dh talk about this series which he watched when it was on tv and how good it was. It's about to be released on dvd and I'm wondering about getting it for Christmas as a present for him.

Will he thank me or will it look and sound really dated? I never saw it as I didn't have a tv at the time.

TIA

it was absolutely brilliant. if you can get a copy with the last ever episode, then do. not many people saw it, and it ties it all up brilliantly. getting those little tingles now just remembering

also, the soundtrack is grand for memory lane (of the the prog) too

AitchTwoOh · 13/11/2006 20:44

and the guy playing Paul was not Marilyn Manson...
thought the first series were good, but when he got older he looked weird and pudgy and it all got a bit gross.

munz · 13/11/2006 20:44

It's on one of the satellite channels, I watched it yesterday. It took me back to watching it as a teenager.

poshgirlformerlymaggiesmama · 13/11/2006 20:46

lilibet · 13/11/2006 20:52

I've seen it recently on Paramount Comedy. Loved it when it was on originally.

Used to love it!

I also loved it when David Schwimmer was in it too. Probably only for a few episodes as Karen's boyfriend. Very funny seeing him as a hippy!

princessmel · 14/11/2006 10:08

I used to really like that. So did my dad. It was one of the only american sit-coms that he could bear to watch. fabby!

SherlockLGJ · 14/11/2006 18:31

He first met his wife, Jennifer Stone, where they were neighbors as children. Coincidently, he became famous for playing a character on "The Wonder Years" (1988) who has a childhood romance with his neighbor.

Proposed to his wife with a 5-carat sapphire ring from Neil Lane Jewelers.

Wedding took place at L'Orangerie restaurant in Los Angeles, California.

In lieu of wedding gifts, they requested that donations be made to Children's Hospital Cancer Center of Los Angeles, in memory of their childhood friend.

What a nice guy.

I remember seeing a programme about the actors and they did all seem very grounded. Apparently the Winnie character in real life was something of a maths whizz.
