They've got to move surely 17 y o sister and 14 y I brother sharing a bedroom can't be good for them. Hope the dad does decide to move

Didn't catch the end but it was horribly unfair making teenagers share a room. They should have used the living room as a bedroom or something. Did they move?

Izzy82 · 19/05/2015 23:06

No they stayed put. But what a ridiculously lazy family. They can afford a £625,000 house and their current house was an absolute disgrace. I would have been embarrassed going on TV if that's the state of my house. And which mother on her right mind prioritises a dance studio over separate bedrooms for her teenage children. Disgusting!

SheHasAWildHeart · 20/05/2015 10:08

That was the most frustrating episode out of all of them. How can you afford £625k on a house and for your children to live that way? Makes my £113k house look positively palatial!

Wishful80smontage · 20/05/2015 11:14

I was so annoyed with the ending. Can't see them getting round to doing the attic conversion giving the way the house was left for the Years prior. Yes you've got a lovely kitchen diner now but teenagers sharing a room is not fair on them. If anything they should have made the downstairs study bigger and made that a room :(

Agreed heart amazing what the price differences are my house in that area would be worth well over 650k which is crazy!

I really thought they were going to move - it just seemed like the obvious choice. Surely you'd have to prioritise an extra bedroom.... couldn't the study have been a small bedroom? Poor kids.

Love the show though. I really want Kirsty to come over and revamp my house.

SheHasAWildHeart · 20/05/2015 11:55

I think the premise of the show is flawed in Kirsty's favour.
The ONLY reason any of the couple featured want to move is cos their current house is looking grotty. Kirsty comes and spruces it up then they no longer have a reason to move.

Compare this with the 'list it' option. They'll have to fork out for estate agent, solicitor, stamp duty, surveys, removal costs and probably a higher mortgage repayment - there was mention in one episode of moving the kids out of their current school. That is a lot of money, headache and hassle versus staying in your own (now done up) house. The only couple who agreed to 'list it' were the ones who needed extra space for the lady's elderly parents.

Love the show - love Phil & Kirsty!

lightgreenglass · 20/05/2015 21:48

The higher mortgage payment argument is the reason I reckon most of them stay.

It annoys me so much when they will spend an extra £220,000 to move house but will only give Kirsty £40,000. She's not a miracle worker. They needed to spend a lot more on that house, with a loft conversion and a garden room they could make it work. It needed £80,000 spent on it!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/05/2015 22:13

This programme made me so cross last night ! Fair enough if you haven't got the money to move or the space then you just get on and make do with what you have BUT they had a budget of 650k and their different sex kids were crammed into a room that was also used as an office?? WTAF?Shock

Huge dining room downstairs that could be used as an office at one end and a prayer room could be built on the back of the house.

I felt very sorry for the kids when the main priority seems to be the mum having a dance studio.

Shame as they seemed such a nice family but blimey they needed to sort themselves out!

Rant over Blush

Wishful80smontage · 21/05/2015 08:39

It was very frustrating when it seems so obvious that the priority if nothing else was to create a separate space for one of the teenagers. Even Kirsty said at one point the house wasn't right. If they'd done nothing apart from making the dining room into a bedroom that would have been enough.

In Location, Location, Location Phil & Kirsty revist people from previous shows. I'd love for them to do this with LIOLI because I want to know whether all the couples have managed to stay on top of maintaining their made over houses and whether the Oberai kids got their separate bedrooms.
