Yes, it's back. Prepare to have your lower jaws unhinged once again as the series that delivers scenes of breathtaking beauty and/or heart-stopping drama roughly every 30 seconds returns for a second run. It was the polar bear cubs who stole the show last time round and their stumbling first steps get a reprise here, as David Attenborough whispers us through the wonders of the Arctic and Antarctic. But they're competing with other cute youngsters for the "aaah" vote: arctic fox cubs, fluffy sandhill crane chicks and, best of all, a little musk ox calf skittering on the snow. As ever, it's not all sweetness and (dazzling) light, though. The epic ordeal of male emperor penguins will make any human dads watching feel like lightweights. And the tale of one polar bear struggling for survival as climate change melts his world is shattering. If it persuades any of us to turn off our TV sets at the mains tonight, so much the better.

was she thinking of the man eaten by grizzly bears here?

hub2dee · 07/11/2006 08:55

Yeah, that must be it.

I remember reading the article about that incident. And that his camera was running so there was a soundtrack of the bear munching away at them!

It was a reputable magazine as well although I can't remember which one. I just recall thinking...yuukk!
