Any other Roseanne fans out there?

Haven't watched it for ages, but used to love it.

Cocolepew · 12/04/2015 20:26

Me, I loved the relationship between her and Dan. I wonder if it would looked dated now?

LongDistanceLove · 12/04/2015 21:19

It is dated now, no mobile phones, no Internet.

I love it, I wish I had Roseanne 's wit and sass. She didn't take shit from no one. When Darlene got her period and wanted to throw away all her baseball gloves and basketball stuff, she said it's girls stuff as long as a girl wants to use it.

I was thinking about Roseanne as I happened to catch her on some other American show the other day. I used to love it too.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 12/04/2015 21:29

OMG - I've just posted about Roseanne on the Seinfeld thread (as in it's much better than Seinfeld)

A brilliant show with great female characters and an amazing cast. I was reminded the other day that Joan Collins guest starred at one point. It did end rather badly but so groundbreaking.

Costacoffeeplease · 12/04/2015 21:33

Spooky - I just got the box set DVDs from amazon on Friday. I used to love it, I hope it stands the test of time - and there's a young George Clooney tooWink

CrispyFern · 12/04/2015 23:52

Why is it never repeated on TV like every other show is?

MummyPidge · 13/04/2015 00:12

Currently on season 6 ( bought the whole series set a few years back, this is rewatch number 3) I love it, can remember watching it when I was a kid, and it's probably one of the places I got my sense of sarcasm and quick wit from. I play spot the actor, George Clooney, Jonathon Gordon Levitt (played a school friend of Dj's) one of Dans friends is the guy who plays a Richard Webber in Greys Anatomy, Johnny Galecki from Big Bang. Even though it's dated in tech/fashion I feel a lot of it still rings true, not looking forward to the stinker of a final season though!

I loved Roseanne and was just thinking about it the other day whilst watching The Big Bang theory which had Aunt Jackie in it.

I always wanted a phone that i could walk around the kitchen with. I suppose that would be a mobile phone now Grin

mrsschatzepage · 13/04/2015 16:25

I watched it last year and it was excellent (apart from the final season). I think it is still relevant today. I wonder why the last season wasd so different to the previous ones. Maytbe they ran out of ideas or they had got fed up and wanted to make sure it didnt get recomissioned.

DuckChowMein · 13/04/2015 21:00

I don't remember the last season. What was so bad about it? I'm not even sure whether i watched it or not.

RedCrayons · 13/04/2015 21:07

I loved Roseanne. Is it in TV anywhere? I've Seen Fraiser and Eveeyone Lovea Raymond a million times.

Didn't they win the lottery in the last season and Dan left Roseanne, or something.

Love that Aunt Jackie is Sheldons mum on Big Bang Theory. and leanord has a thing with 'darlene'.

WannabeLaraCroft · 14/04/2015 22:50

Aww I loved Roseanne! It's such a shame it's not repeated anywhere, they show Frasier, Cheers etc but not this Sad

Mintyy · 14/04/2015 22:52

Yep, loved Roseanne. Have fond memories of watching it with my flat mate in the late 80s. We also used to watch Brookside and The Golden Girls together. Cosy!

Jackieharris · 14/04/2015 23:05

Well obviously I'm a big fan Wink.

I have all the DVDs and watch them regularly (forget about season 9)

DS loves it too now. I find it great for discussing 'issues' with the DCs.

My own dm didn't approve of me watching it when I was a teenager. She thought it'd teach me to be cheeky.

What most surprises me looking back on it now is how much worse off blue collar/working class people are now compared to then.

They were 'poor' but lived in a big house they owned, had 2 cars, were never short of food etc.

oneowlgirl · 16/04/2015 22:25

Another massive Roseann fan here! Totally no recollection of a rubbish final season though - wonder if I didn't watch it?? How did it actually end?

WeAllHaveWings · 16/04/2015 22:31

Loved Roseanne. Last time I watched her was 11 years ago when reruns were on around 2 or 3am every night and I was bf.

code · 17/04/2015 07:13

Loved it. Jackie, Roseanne and Darlene were fantastic. I used to wish Dan and Roseanne were my parents and to live in their house and enjoy Halloween at the lodge. The first few seasons were groundbreaking.

GobblersKnob · 17/04/2015 07:20

Loved it, keep meaning to get the box set.

LongDistanceLove · 17/04/2015 07:21

I loved the first couple of seasons, just so different to what was on at the time.

The last one, on what planet?

LongDistanceLove · 17/04/2015 07:24

I got the box set, and I've watched them all 10+ times. I'm wearing the disks out Blush
