Real Story - Corby Birth Defects

Did anyone just see this programme?

More info here

I was appalled that Corby Council could possibly deny there is any link between the bodged toxic waste removal and the cluster of birth defects occurring in Corby.

Guess it's just me then. []

Yes, I saw it. So sad, esp about that little girl that died. I was intrigued as a close friend of mine's nephew was born with exactly that defect and they are in Banbury. I am now wondering if they ever worked near Corby as it's vaguely the same area.

about your friend's nephew.

I really hope they win the court case. How the council can say it's nothing to do with them beggars belief.

How could they possibly deny a link? That council official turned my stomach, the fact he can live with himself while ignoring what has happened to those poor families.

We saw that too.
Bizarrely enough I went out with someone from Corby for a while and he had been born with 6 fingers - not within the time range in the prog, obviously, but presumably whatever toxic waste the steelworks were producing would have been in higher levels than in other places for a long time so it does make me wonder.

I did think the council man came across as a bit of a creep. Obviously he is just stating the council's case, but he seemed arrogant and almost flippant about it.

It may be hard for the parents to prove if there is no systematic recording of birth defects in other areas, though.

Can;t believe I missed it!
We live in Corby, well, only moved here a year ago though...and actually I know one of the boys that is mentioned in the article.
I am also shocked that the Council would deny a link, as Corby is Mobility city and there are also so many Babys born here with different problems, and o.k. some are down to the lifestyle itself, but not all...I mean, you don't need to know all that much to make that connection...sigh!
BTW, anyone know if that programme will be repeated?

you can watch the programme over this link if you click on the Video link
Just watched it myself!
